    Sammanfattning : This is the first major piece of research which has been carried out dealing with funeral escutcheons and ancestral coats of arms which are typical of the period when Sweden was a great power. Funeral escutcheons and ancestral coats of arms are wooden shields which were often carried at noblemen’s funerals and afterwards were hung in the church where the funeral service took place.
