  1. 16. Brain distribution of a bispecific antibody targeting Aβ

    Författare :Gustavsson Tobias; Dag Sehlin; Stina Syvänen; Paul O'Callaghan; Danica Stanimirovic; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alzheimer s disease; amyloid-beta; blood-brain barrier; single-photon emission computed tomography SPECT ; bispecific antibody; immunotherapy; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is characterised by aberrant protein aggregation in the brain with subsequent synaptic loss, neuroinflammation, and brain atrophy that ultimately clinically manifests as cognitive impairment. Histopathological findings in AD are extracellular plaques of the protein amyloid-beta (Aβ), Aβ in blood vessels (CAA), and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles (NFT) of hyperphosphorylated tau. 2. 17. Herpes simplex virus infection: epidemiological aspects and analysis of the type-specific antibody response

    Författare :Petra Tunbäck; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; herpes simplex virus; first episode genital herpes; seroepidemiology type-specific antibody-response; glycoprotein G-1; epitope-mapping;

    Sammanfattning : Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and type 2 (HSV-2) are ubiquitous viruses, often leading to asymptomatic infections in humans. However, different clinical presentations can be seen including recurrent oral or genital lesions, meningitis and neonatal herpes. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Studies on Potency and breadth of HIV-1, HIV-2 and SIV neutralizing antibody responses

    Författare :Gülsen Özkaya Sahin; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HIV-1; HIV-2; SIV; envelope; neutralizing antibody; breadth; potency; IgG; IgA; complement; antibody-dependent complement-mediated inactivation; virus evolution; diversity; divergence;

    Sammanfattning : Even though the relative contribution of neutralizing antibodies (Nab) to prevent progression to AIDS during HIV-1 infection is still unclear, the induction of broadly NAb directed against HIV-1 through vaccination is considered to represent an important goal for the development of HIV-1 vaccines. Factors contributing to the induction of NAb may include the strength and duration of antigenic stimulation, the preservation of CD4+ T and B cells, the conformation of the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein complex (Env), and the evolution of Env during infection. 4. 19. Serology of human papillomavirus type 16

    Författare :Xiaohong Wang; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; bacteriology; Microbiology; neutralization; avidity; heparin; epitope; ELISA; HPV16; antibody response;

    Sammanfattning : Human papillomavirus (HPV) type 16 is the major cause of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and anogenital cancers. The antibody response to papillomaviruses is a key determinant of protective immunity and forms the basis for prophylactic vaccine development as well as for seroepidemiology. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Cholera toxin B subunit as a carrier for inducing mucosal immunity and/or peripheral tolerance

    Författare :Carola Rask; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mucosal immunity; tolerance; atopic allergy; cholera toxin B subunit; antibody response; IgE;

    Sammanfattning : When an antigen is introduced via a mucosal route, either immunity or tolerance, or even both may be induced. Both immunity and tolerance are actively induced phenomena and both of them could have important medical implications as well as potential prophylactic or therapeutic applications. LÄS MER
