  1. 11. Analysis of the vascular sounds of the arteriovenous fistula

    Författare :Marco Munguia Mena; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis is in the field of biomedical signal processing with main focus on processing of the vascular sounds of the hemodialysis vascular access in patient undergoing hemodialysis. The first paper proposes a feature extraction method based on principal component analysis (PCA) for acoustic detection of venous stenosis. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Anastomotic leakage in colorectal surgery : early diagnosis and treatment with stent

    Författare :Ioannis Oikonomakis; Kjell Jansson; Tal M. Hörer; Pär Myrelid; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anastomotic leakage; colorectal cancer; intraperitoneal microdialysis; cytokines; mRNA analysis; stent;

    Sammanfattning : Every year inn Sweden more than 6000 individuals are diagnosed with colorectal cancer and more than 5000 operations are performed. Anastomotic leakage (AL) is the most dreaded complication in colorectal surgery and has a great impact on postoperative morbidity and mortality. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Abdominal adhesions - clinical impact and experimental prevention

    Författare :Bobby Tingstedt; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; anastomotic healing; adhesion prevention; polypeptides; long term follow-up; cost; non-specific abdominal pain; abdominal adhesions; small bowel obstruction; ortopedi; traumatologi; Kirurgi; traumatology; burst pressure;

    Sammanfattning : Intraabdominal adhesions are formed after most operations and a limited number of studies have to examine the long-term spectrum of adhesion-related disorders and the cost associated with this. Only a few numbers of antiadhesive agents are available which, however, do not decrease the actual morbidity that follows intraabdominal adhesions, such as small bowel obstruction, infertility and pain. 4. 14. Ulcerative Colitis - Surgery Outcome and Pathophysiological Aspects

    Författare :Mattias Block; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ulcerative Colitis; Long-term Function; IPAA; IRA; Neoplasia; Surveillance; Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis; Galectins; Immunohistochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Ulcerative Colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease; the etiology is mainly unknown. Around 30% of the patients are treated by surgery. The aims of this thesis were to evaluate outcome after specific surgical procedures and to investigate possible pathophysiological aspects. LÄS MER

  5. 15. PREVENTION OF POSTSURGICAL ABDOMINAL ADHESIONS BY POLYPEPTIDES

    Författare :Laszlo Nehéz; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatology; Surgery; orthopaedics; poly-L-glutamate; anastomotic healing; peritoneum; adhesion; prevention; poly-L-lysine; traumatologi; Kirurgi; ortopedi; polypeptides; surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Peritoneal adhesions develop after almost all abdominal surgical interventions and represent an important cause of postoperative intestinal obstruction, abdominal discomfort and infertility. Postoperative adhesions can potentially be reduced by using different antiadhesive agents. LÄS MER
