  1. 1. Novel Microsystem Techniques for Liquid Manipulation and Pressure Sensing

    Författare :Jessica Melin; Göran Stemme; Sabeth Verpoorte; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbiology; microsystem technology; pressure sensing; liquid manipulation; liquid control; micromixing; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Scaling down operations and functions into the fascinating micro world not only improve performance, lower costs, and enable easier integration, but also opens the door to new functionalities. This truly multidisciplinary thesis presents novel solutions to current and relevant challenges in the areas of 1) on-chip liquid manipulation which has applications in micro total analysis systems, medical diagnostics, and drug discovery and 2) pressure sensing which has an established market in the automotive and industrial processes industry. 2. 2. Clinical Electrocochleography in Menière´s disease

    Författare :Kornel Sass; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intrathoracic pressure; perilymphatic fistula; pressure exposure; endolymphatic hydrops; Menière´s disease; reproducibility; specificity; sensitivity; rarefaction click; condensation click; electrocochleography; summating potential; Otorhinolaryngology; audiology; auditive system and speech; Otorinolaryngologi; audiologi; hörsel- och talorganen;

    Sammanfattning : Electrocochleography (ECoG) is an objective method to evaluate cochlear electrophysiology. The recordings are considered to reflect the mechano-electric processes of the cochlea, and can indicate the presence of suspected endolymphatic hydrops. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Abdominal adhesions - clinical impact and experimental prevention

    Författare :Bobby Tingstedt; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; anastomotic healing; adhesion prevention; polypeptides; long term follow-up; cost; non-specific abdominal pain; abdominal adhesions; small bowel obstruction; ortopedi; traumatologi; Kirurgi; traumatology; burst pressure;

    Sammanfattning : Intraabdominal adhesions are formed after most operations and a limited number of studies have to examine the long-term spectrum of adhesion-related disorders and the cost associated with this. Only a few numbers of antiadhesive agents are available which, however, do not decrease the actual morbidity that follows intraabdominal adhesions, such as small bowel obstruction, infertility and pain. 4. 4. Burst Detection and Location in Pipelines and Pipe Networks - With Application in Water Distribution

    Författare :Dalius Misiunas; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Sudden pipe bursts occur in high-pressure water transmission pipelines and water distribution networks. The consequences of these bursts can be very expensive due to the outage time while the burst pipe is repaired, the cost of repair, and damage to surrounding property and infrastructure. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development and application of laser diagnostics - from laboratory devices towards practical combustion engines

    Författare :Zhenkan Wang; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :Combustion diagnostics; Laser induced fluorescence LIF ; Ultra-high-speed; Burst-mode laser; Ballistic imaging; Particle imaging velocimetry; Laser Doppler anemometry; Turbulent premixed combustion; Plasma; Internal combustion engine; Partially premixed combustion PPC ; Auto-ignition; OH radical; CH2O formaldehyde ; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Wang;

    Sammanfattning : For many decades, research work on combustion has been focused on improving combustion efficiency and reducing harmful emissions. Laser diagnostics is one of the best ways to investigate the combustion process and emission formation as it is non-intrusive and it has high spatiotemporal resolution. LÄS MER
