  1. 11. Anaerobic digestion in the kraft pulp and paper industry : Challenges and possibilities for implementation

    Författare :Eva-Maria Ekstrand; Bo H Svensson; Annika Björn (Fredriksson); David Bastviken; Jukka Rintala; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pulp and paper; anaerobic digestion; fibre sludge; activated sludge; condensates; bleaching wastewater; wastewater treatment; methane; degradability; nutrient recirculation; Pappers- och massa; anaerob nedbrytning; fiberslam; aktivt slam; kondensat; vattenrening; metan; nedbrytbarhet; näringsåterföring;

    Sammanfattning : The pulp and paper industry is a large producer of wastewater and sludge, putting high pressure on waste treatment. In addition, more rigorous environmental legislation for pollution control and demands to increase the use of renewable energy have put further pressure on the pulp and paper industry’s waste treatment, where anaerobic digestion (AD) and the production of methane could pose a solution. 2. 12. Bioprocessing of Recalcitrant Substrates for Biogas Production

    Författare :Maryam M Kabir; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; anaerobic digestion; biogas; lignocellulose; wool; keratin; pre-treatment; co-digestion; dry digestion; economic evaluation; Resursåtervinning; Resource Recovery;

    Sammanfattning : The application of anaerobic digestion (AD) as a sustainable waste management technology is growing worldwide, due to high energy prices as well as increasingly strict environmental regulations. The growth of the AD industry necessitates exploring new substrates for their utilisation in AD processes. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Improvement of Wastewater Sludge Digestion

    Författare :Michael Recktenwald; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Anaerobic digestion; biogas; cation-binding agents; enzymes; enzymatic activity; extracellular polymeric substances EPS ; industrial scale trials; methanization; municipal sewage; sludge treatment; wastewater treatment plant;

    Sammanfattning : The reduction of sludge volumes for disposal is a topic of high interest for wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) all over the world. Steadily increasing volumes for disposal create an economic, environmental, legislative and technological challenge. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Anaerobic Treatment of Agricultural Residues and Wastewater - Application of High-Rate Reactors

    Författare :Wilson Parawira; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biochemical technology; Biokemisk teknik; opaque beer brewery wastewater; UASB; two-stage; co-digestion; sugar beet leaves; solid potato waste; methane yield; biogas; Anaerobic digestion; agricultural residues;

    Sammanfattning : The production of methane via anaerobic digestion of agricultural residues and industrial wastewater would benefit society by providing a clean fuel from renewable feedstocks. This would reduce the use of fossil-fuel-derived energy and reduce environmental impact, including global warming and pollution. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Biogas Production from Lignocellulosic Biomass : Impact of pre-treatment, co-digestion, harvest time and inoculation

    Författare :Chao LI; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :Anaerobic digestion; Lignocellulosic biomass; Pretreatment; Co-digestion; Inoculation;

    Sammanfattning : Biogas or methane production through anaerobic digestion (AD) is gaining increasing attention worldwide due to concerns over global warming, energy security and the need for sustainable waste management. AD of lignocellulosic biomass is one facet that is highly appreciated since the conflict over biomass for food/feed or energy can be avoided. LÄS MER
