  1. 11. Abdominal adhesions - clinical impact and experimental prevention

    Författare :Bobby Tingstedt; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; anastomotic healing; adhesion prevention; polypeptides; long term follow-up; cost; non-specific abdominal pain; abdominal adhesions; small bowel obstruction; ortopedi; traumatologi; Kirurgi; traumatology; burst pressure;

    Sammanfattning : Intraabdominal adhesions are formed after most operations and a limited number of studies have to examine the long-term spectrum of adhesion-related disorders and the cost associated with this. Only a few numbers of antiadhesive agents are available which, however, do not decrease the actual morbidity that follows intraabdominal adhesions, such as small bowel obstruction, infertility and pain. 2. 12. Gastrointestinal Physiology and Results following Bariatric Surgery

    Författare :Jakob Hedberg; Magnus Sundbom; Näslund Erik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bariatric surgery; gastric bypass; biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch; PYY; stomal ulcer; gastric emptying; Surgery; Kirurgi; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : The number of operations for morbid obesity is rising fast. We have examined aspects of postoperative physiology and results after bariatric surgery. The pH in the proximal pouch after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP) was investigated with catheter-based and wire-less technique. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Coagulation, fibrinolysis and inflammation in open surgery for infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm

    Författare :Anders Holmberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Abdominal aortic aneurysm; blood coagulation; fibrinolysis; cytokines; leucocytes; flow cytometry; chemotaxis; lactoferrin; myeloperoxidase; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Elective repair of infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) carries a mortality of 4-8% and there is a substantial incidence of serious non-lethal complications. During surgery there is a situation of relative ischaemia and subsequent reperfusion of the lower part of the body. LÄS MER

  4. 14. The Role of Chlamydophila Pneumoniae in the Inflammatory Response and Expansion of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

    Författare :Lars Karlsson; Håkan Pärsson; David Bergqvist; Janet Powell; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a common disease that develops gradually over several years and is characterised by weakening and dilatation of the aortic wall. AAAs also demonstrates a marked inflammatory infiltrate throughout the aortic wall. Chlamydophila pneumoniae (C. pneumoniae), is a common bacterium. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Evaluating an experimental model consecutive to abdominal wall hernia repair outcome

    Författare :Annika Winsnes; Karin Strigård; Ulf Gunnarsson; Peter Falk; Birgit Stark; Henrik Thorlacius; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hernia; mesh; luciferase; full thickness skin grafts; mice; IPOM; onlay; reinforcement materials; abdominal wall; Bråck; nät; luciferas; fullhudstransplantat; FTSG; möss; IPOM; onlay; förstärkningsmaterial; bukvägg; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Abdominal wall hernia is a common surgically treated condition. Patients with primary umbilical hernia are operated with suture or mesh repair, but recurrence and complication rates have been debated.Larger abdominal wall hernias need implantation of reinforcing material for repair. Synthetic implants are dominating. LÄS MER
