  1. 1. Formation and metabolism of the tryptophan-derived 6-formylindolo[3,2-b]carbazole - a light-induced Ah-receptor ligand

    Författare :Linda Bergander; Ulf Rannug; Agneta Rannug; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Toxicology; Toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand dependent transcription factor ubiquitously expressed in mammalian cells. It is a genetically ancient protein mostly known for binding the extremely toxic contaminant 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Direct and indirect mechanisms for aryl hydrocarbon receptor activation mediated by 6-formylindolo[3,2-b]carbazole

    Författare :Emma Wincent; Ulf Rannug; Agneta Rannug; Christopher Bradfield; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Toxicology; Toxikologi; toxikologisk genetik; Genetic Toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is mostly recognized for mediating the adverse effects of dioxins. In addition, endogenous activation of the AhR seems to have important biological functions.  Several studies have demonstrated an activation of the receptor when no exogenous ligand was added. 3. 3. Short-term mutagenicity tests on Salmonella typhimurium : studies on vinyl chloride, ethylene dichloride and other compounds related to the vinyl chloride industry

    Författare :Ulf Rannug; Uppsala universitet; []

  4. 4. The impact of cytochrome P4501-inhibitors on aryl hydrocarbon receptor signaling

    Författare :Johanna Bengtsson; Emma Wincent; Ulf Rannug; Malin Celander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) best known as a ligand-activated transcription factor that mediates toxic responses to xenobiotics such as dioxins, is also activated by certain endogenous compounds. Activation of the AHR up-regulates transcription of a large number of genes, including those encoding members of the cytochrome P450 1 family of enzymes (CYP1s). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Biomarkers in perch (Perca fluviatilis) used in environmental monitoring of the Stockholm recipient and background areas in the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Tomas Hansson; Lennart Balk; Ulf Rannug; Tracy Collier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biomarker; DDT; environmental monitoring; EROD; fish; GSI; nanoinjection; PAH; PCB; Perca fluviatilis; perch; reproduction; Environmental toxicology; Miljötoxikologi; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis reports the results of biomarker measurements in three environmental monitoring projects. In the first project, which was part of the Swedish national environmental monitoring, biomarkers were measured annually in female perch (Perca fluviatilis) in two background areas in the Baltic Sea during 1988–2000, resulting in a unique 13-year series of measurements.
