  1. 1. Direct and indirect mechanisms for aryl hydrocarbon receptor activation mediated by 6-formylindolo[3,2-b]carbazole

    Författare :Emma Wincent; Ulf Rannug; Agneta Rannug; Christopher Bradfield; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Toxicology; Toxikologi; toxikologisk genetik; Genetic Toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is mostly recognized for mediating the adverse effects of dioxins. In addition, endogenous activation of the AhR seems to have important biological functions.  Several studies have demonstrated an activation of the receptor when no exogenous ligand was added. 2. 2. The impact of cytochrome P4501-inhibitors on aryl hydrocarbon receptor signaling

    Författare :Johanna Bengtsson; Emma Wincent; Ulf Rannug; Malin Celander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) best known as a ligand-activated transcription factor that mediates toxic responses to xenobiotics such as dioxins, is also activated by certain endogenous compounds. Activation of the AHR up-regulates transcription of a large number of genes, including those encoding members of the cytochrome P450 1 family of enzymes (CYP1s). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Androgenic Effects of the Progestin Levonorgestrel in Three-spined Stickleback (Gasterosteus aculatus)

    Författare :Johan Svensson; Björn Brunström; Ingvar Brandt; Emma Wincent; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biologi med inriktning mot ekotoxikologi; Biology with specialization in Environmental Toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : The extensive use of pharmaceuticals and their poor removal by wastewater treatment plants has led to the emergence of pharmaceutical compounds as global aquatic contaminants. Progestins, the synthetic analogues to progesterone, are receiving increasing attention as contaminants and have been shown to impair reproduction in fish and amphibians at low ng L-1 concentrations.
