1. Optical characterization of potential drugs and drug delivery systems
Sammanfattning : This Thesis is a characterization study on substances having potency as drugs as well as on a lipid based drug-delivery matrix. The optical properties of newly synthesized molecules with proven pilicide properties have been characterized with several spectroscopic methods. LÄS MER
2. The influence of high temperature on the discoloration and degradation of carbohydrates and on hydrogen peroxide bleaching of spruce TMP
Sammanfattning : When processing wood to obtain pulp, the fibers are subjected to high temperatureat moisture levels and to the influence of metal ions. Many process developmentshave resulted in utilization of higher temperatures that induce chemical reactionsin the wood fibers. This thesis deals with some aspects of using high temperaturesin pulping processes. LÄS MER
3. Electronic and Geometrical Structure of Phthalocyanines on Surfaces : An Electron Spectroscopy and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Study
Sammanfattning : Core- and Valence Photoelectron Spectroscopy (PES), X-ray- and Ultraviolet-Visible Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS and UV-Vis), Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations are used to study the electronic and geometrical structure of a class of macro-cyclic molecules, Phthalocyanines (Pc), on surfaces. These molecules are widely studied due to their application in many different fields. LÄS MER
4. Physicochemical and Biopharmaceutical Characterisation of Small Drug Molecules by Capillary Electrophoresis
Sammanfattning : Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) was explored as a means for physicochemical and biopharmaceutical characterisation of small drug molecules. Special attention was paid to the characterisation of acid-base and lipophilic properties of drug compounds by analysing their migration behaviour in different CE systems. LÄS MER
5. Stepping into Catalysis : Kinetic and Mechanistic Investigations of Photo- and Electrocatalytic Hydrogen Production with Natural and Synthetic Molecular Catalysts
Sammanfattning : In light of its rapidly growing energy demand, human society has an urgent need to become much more strongly reliant on renewable and sustainable energy carriers. Molecular hydrogen made from water with solar energy could provide an ideal case. LÄS MER
