    Sammanfattning : There is a growing demand for studies applying quantitative methods to large-scale data sets for the purpose of evaluating the effects of educational reforms (UVK, 2010). In this thesis the statistical method, Propensity Score Analysis (PSA), is presented and explored in the evaluating context of an extensive educational initiative within science and technology education; the Science and Technology for All-program (NTA).     Sammanfattning : Background: Physical activity among adolescents is diminishing and worldwide about 80% of 13–15-year-old adolescents do not meet the public health guidelines of minimum 60 minutes of daily physical activity of at least moderate intensity. This decline in physical activity has serious consequences as lack of physical activity adversely affects physical and mental health. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Background: In 2005, the Västerbotten County Council launched a child health promotion programme, “the Salut Programme”, in response to an alarming prevalence of overweight and obesity, and trends of increased dental caries, among young county citizens. The programme, initially developed in four pilot areas, is built on multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration and aims to support and strengthen health promotion activities in health care, social services and school settings.     Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study has been to investigate if pre-school children are able to profit from a program in early reading and writing skills and investigate if there are possibilities to give children this stimulation in pre-school. Are teachers, in dialogue with children, able to give them a preparedness for reading and writing? Are parents interested in supporting their children at home with reading and writing activities?The theoretical grounding of the study proceeds from a Vygotskijan perspective. LÄS MER
