11. The acidic domain, the human version and the protein interaction of the ETS transcription factor SPI-C
Sammanfattning : Primary infections and vaccination stimulates the immunesystem to produce memory cells that rapidly respond to reexposure of the same antigen. These memory responses are dependent on an adaptive type of immunity that sustains the reactivity of the immune system by long-lived memory immune cells. LÄS MER
12. New Conditional Gene Targeting Methods : For Studying Neurotrophic Mechanisms in Selected Neuronal Populations
Sammanfattning : Powerful techniques to manipulate the mouse genome have had a great impact on our understanding of biology. The major drawback with conventional transgenic methods is that the genetic alteration will be present in every cell of the animal, from conception and onwards. LÄS MER
13. Oxidation of stressed polymers as studied by chemiluminescence
Sammanfattning : Since the use of chemiluminescence (CL) is known to be avery sensitive technique for studying oxidation of polymers, its potential as a tool for studying the oxidation of stressedpolymers is thoroughly investigated in this thesis. A number ofearlier reports on stress induced chemiluminescence (SCL) showthat SCL has potential for elucidating polymer stressreactions. LÄS MER
14. Genomic analyses of migratory divides in the willow warbler
Sammanfattning : In many species of birds juveniles migrate independently of experienced adults and thus have to rely on innate information about migratory routes and wintering area. This information is encoded as a set of inherited migratory directions and a timing schedule that provides information on when and how far to migrate. LÄS MER
15. Trypanosoma cruzi genome plasticity and evolution
Sammanfattning : Trypanosoma cruzi, a protozoan from the Kinetoplastidae family, is the etiologic agent of Chagas disease, a major public health problem affecting mostly the poorest areas of Latin America. Due to the complex nature of the parasite’s genome it has been impossible to produce a complete reference genome sequence, thus hampering the implementation of post- genomic approaches to unveil the mechanisms of generation of antigenic variation and the identification of new drug targets.
