26. Monitoring Health Problems and Training to Support Performance in Competitive Cross-Country Ski Athletes
Sammanfattning : Competitive cross-country (XC) ski athletes (defined hereafter as XC skiers and biathletes combined) are vulnerable to developing various health-related symptoms and conditions due to several factors, such as high physiological and psychological demands, extreme competition and training environments, high training loads, demanding competition schedules, and frequent travel. On initiating this work, we (the author and supervisory team) were approached by the Swedish Ski Association (SSF) and the Swedish Biathlon Federation (SSSF) to investigate the relationships between training, racing, and health problems, with a specific focus on illnesses (rather than injuries), and an ultimate goal of improving future support practices and athletic performance. 27. Coping with environmental stress : from the individual and population perspective
Sammanfattning : Natural stress and disturbances are important factors affecting the structure and function of ecosystems. However the magnitude of stress has escalated due to anthropogenic activities. Environmental monitoring and toxicity assessments try to protect ecosystems from unwanted human alterations. LÄS MER
28. Biomarkers and risk of intracerebral hemorrhage : population-based studies in northern Sweden
Sammanfattning : BackgroundIntracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a disease associated with a high morbidity and mortality and treatment options for the condition are limited. Even though an ICH event usually comes as a surprise to the affected individual, pathogenetic processes often have occurred before the sudden ICH event and may have preceded disease onset by years. 29. Multi-lead ST-monitoring in the early assessment of patients with suspected or confirmed unstable coronary artery disease
Sammanfattning : This study evaluated the use of multi-lead ST-monitoring in the early assessment of patients with suspected or confirmed unstable coronary artery disease (UCAD).At continuous 12-lead ECG (c12ECG), the definition of an ischemic episode as a transient ST-deviation ¡Ý0 for at least 1 minute resulted in a good observer agreement (kappa=0. 30. Design-based sampling methods for environmental monitoring
Sammanfattning : Efficient strategies for environmental monitoring are proposed with an emphasis on the importance of using available information. In environmental monitoring, it is common to use area frames covering the assumed spread of the population of inter-est. LÄS MER
