  1. 1. Population History and Non-invasive Monitoring : Use of low copy number DNA in Conservation Genetics

    Författare :Øystein Flagstad; Ettore Randi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; genetic tagging; immigration; loss of genetic variability; non-invasive molecular techniques; population decline; Swayne’s hartebeest; wolf; wolverine; Biologi; Biology; Biologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : Conservation genetics research is increasingly becoming an integrated part of the management of small and endangered populations. In this thesis I developed tools for genetic analysis of low copy number sources of DNA, such as old teeth from museum specimens as well as field-collected faeces and urine. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Toward Predictive Maintenance in a Cloud Manufacturing Environment : A population-wide approach

    Författare :Bernard Schmidt; Lihui Wang; Amos H. C. Ng; Fuqing Yuan; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; predictive maintenance; condition monitoring; population-wide approach; machine learning; double ball-bar measurement; Production and Automation Engineering; Produktion och automatiseringsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis is focused on improving industrial maintenance by using better decision support that is based on a wider range of input information. The core objective is to research how to integrate information from a population of similar monitored objects. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Understanding Weather effects on, in, and from large Herbivore Population Dynamics

    Författare :Lena Månsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; monitoring; management; data collection; Ecology; Ekologi; indirect effects; vegetation; modeling; time series analysis; precipitation; weather; population dynamics; Large herbivores;

    Sammanfattning : Large herbivores are monitored for various reasons in many areas around the world. Data from such monitoring can be of varying degree of detail and extent. Several studies have shown that we need extensive amounts of data with a high degree of detail to be able to understand anything from it. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Monitoring gene level biodiversity - aspects and considerations in the context of conservation

    Författare :Johan Charlier; Linda Laikre; Nils Ryman; Kjetil Hindar; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; brown trout; conservation genetics; genetic drift; genetic monitoring; effective population size; moose; one-sample approach; spatial genetic structure; statistical power; temporal data; populationsgenetik; Population Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The objectives of this thesis relate to questions needed to be addressed in the context of genetic monitoring for implementing the Convention on Biological Diversity for the gene level. Genetic monitoring is quantifying temporal changes in population genetic metrics. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Monitoring Arthritis - Biochemical, Metodological and Clinical Aspects

    Författare :Maria Andersson; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Monitoring; COMP; CRP; Biomarkers; Rheumatoid Arthritis; Arthritis; Osteoarthritis; Clinical; Diurnal variation;

    Sammanfattning : Arthritides are musculoskeletal diseases, which predominantly affect the joints e.g. osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Modern treatment strategies include early detection and careful monitoring of the disease course. LÄS MER
