6. Oxidation of some Late Transition Metal Surfaces: Structural Studies from UHV to Atmospheric Pressure
Sammanfattning : The oxidation of Rh, Pd and Pt is studied under conditions ranging from ultra high vacuum to ambient pressures, with emphasis on a complete understanding of the geometry of the various oxide structures found. The investigations use a combination of various experimental methods, including high resolution core level spectroscopy, low energy electron diffraction, surface x-ray diffraction and scanning tunneling microscopy, as well as density functional theory calculations. 7. Influence of metallic fission products and self irradiation on the rate of spent nuclear fuel-matrix dissolution
8. Partial Discharge Analysis of Stator Insulation at Arbitrary Voltage Waveform Stimulus
Sammanfattning : Partial discharge (PD) detection is a powerful tool to diagnose the defects and degradation in high voltage electrical insulation systems. It can be performed in both on-line and off-line conditions. LÄS MER
9. Structural Properties of Palladium-Manganese Alloys
Sammanfattning : Structural properties of adsorbed overlayers on well-defined single crystals and of Palladium-Manganese surface alloys formed on Pd(100) have been investigated using synchrotron-based photoemission, scanning tunneling microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The experimental valence electronic structure of PdMn systems on Pd(100) is compared to density functional calculations (DFT). LÄS MER
10. New Materials in Environmental Catalysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents new approaches to the control of emissions within the field of environmental catalysis. Three catalytic systems; bimetallic catalysts, perovskites and promoted catalysts have been prepared and evaluated for complete oxidation of volatile organic compounds and for simultaneous conversion of CO, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides.
