16. Adhesion Dependent Signals : Cell Survival, Receptor Crosstalk and Mechanostimulation
Sammanfattning : The integrin family of cell surface receptors is evolutionary conserved and found in all multicellular animals. In humans 8-alpha and 18-beta integrins are non-covalently associated into 24 dimers. Integrins mediate cell-extracellular matrix and cell-cell interactions and participate in cell signalling. 17. Ultrasensitive Molecular Monitoring of Breast Cancer and Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Sammanfattning : Cancer is the common name to a group of biologically diverse malignant neoplastic diseases. Approximately 18 million people are diagnosed with cancer annually and 8.8 million patients die from it. Tumorigenesis and progression of cancer are driven by alterations in the cancer cell genome. 18. Signaling determinants in Trojan horse-mediated dissemination of Toxoplasma gondii
Sammanfattning : Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite that infects all warm-blooded vertebrates including one third of the global human population. While infection is typically asymptomatic in healthy human hosts, reactivated and acute infection in immunosuppressed or immunecompromised individuals can lead to lethal toxoplasmic encephalitis After ingestion, the parasite crosses the intestinal epithelium and rapidly achieves systemic dissemination, ultimately establishing chronic infection in the brain. 19. The functional roles of the intra-oocyte phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) signaling in controlling follicular development in mice
Sammanfattning : The key functions of the mammalian ovary are the production of fertilizable oocytes and thesecretion of steroid hormones. At the time of birth the human ovary is composed of basic unitstermed primordial follicles. Primordial follicles are long-lived structures in the ovary and some ofthem last until the woman reaches menopause. LÄS MER
20. Eosinophil Inflammation in Allergic Disease : Clinical and experimental studies in allergic asthma and allergic rhinitis
Sammanfattning : Allergic diseases are chronic inflammatory conditions, characterised by eosinophil inflammation systemically and in target organs, where cytotoxic granule proteins are responsible for tissue injury. Allergic rhinitis is known to be a risk factor for the development of asthma, yet not all with rhinitis develop asthma. LÄS MER
