  1. 1. Eosinophil Inflammation in Allergic Disease : Clinical and experimental studies in allergic asthma and allergic rhinitis

    Författare :Mary Kämpe; Marie Carlson; Christer Janson; Gunnemar Stålenheim; Magnus Sköld; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Allergic asthma; allergic rhinitis; eosinophils; pollen season; bronchial challenge; nasal challenge eosinophil degranulation; PI3K signalling; Allergology; Allergologi; Lung Medicine; Lungmedicin; Lung Medicine; Lungmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Allergic diseases are chronic inflammatory conditions, characterised by eosinophil inflammation systemically and in target organs, where cytotoxic granule proteins are responsible for tissue injury. Allergic rhinitis is known to be a risk factor for the development of asthma, yet not all with rhinitis develop asthma. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Asthma, bronchial hyperresponsiveness and body weight in children

    Författare :Xiaomei Mai; Urich Wahn; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background: In the past few years, the relationship between overweight and asthma has been shown in countries with a Western life-style, but the mechanisms of this relation are only partially understood. Also, very low birth weight (VLBW) babies have immature lung and immune systems, which can conceivably affect the development of asthma and allergy later in life. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Breating pattern by inductive plethysmography in relatidon to bronchial obstruction in asthma

    Författare :Tomas Strömberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : This work aimed at improving a method for "non-invasive" ventilatory monitoring (the respiratory inductive plethysmography; RIP), and at assessing whether RIP can be used for detection and monitoring of bronchial obstruction in asthma.The RIP measures the changes in rib cage and abdominal cross-sectional areas during breathing. 4. 4. Nasal and bronchial airway reactivity in allergic and non allergic airway inflammation

    Författare :Karl-Gustav Kölbeck; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Nasal hyperreactivity; airway hyperresponsiveness; Rhinostereometry; organic dust; adhesion molecules; endothelial cells;

    Sammanfattning : In allergic or asthmatic airways disease, upper and lower airways show a uniform eosinophilic inflammation of the mucosa, and bronchial hyperreactivity is a common finding. To study the co- variation of mucosal reactivity in upper and lower airways, histamine challenges of both sites were performed in a group of patients with allergic rhinitis during non-season. 5. 5. Asthma : Respiratory Symptoms, Atopy and Bronchial Hyperresponsiveness in Young Adults in Estonia and Sweden

    Författare :Rain Jõgi; Amund Gulsvik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Asthma; atopic sensitisation; prevalence; epidemiology; ECRHS; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Morbidity of asthma has increased over the world. The reasons for this increase have remained unclear. Studies in children have reported considerable East-West difference in the prevalence of atopy and respiratory allergies. LÄS MER
