16. Synchrotron Radiation Studies of Free and Adsorbed Molecules
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains two parts. The first part concerns the research work on free molecules using synchrotron-radiation-related techniques. Auger electron spectra of two free open-shell molecules, O2 and NO, were studied experimentally and theoretically. LÄS MER
17. A New Look into Protein C Inhibitor : Posttranslational Modifications and their Functions
Sammanfattning : The influences of posttranslational modifications on the functions of the versatile serpin protein C inhibitor (PCI) were studied. PCI is a serine protease inhibitor that is expressed in many tissues and secreted to various fluids in human, including blood plasma, seminal plasma, and urine. LÄS MER
18. Improving outcomes in patients with coronary heart disease using national registers and platelet function testing
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. The aims of this thesis were to evaluate different contemporary approaches in coronary care with regard to mortality and myocardial infarction. LÄS MER
19. The role of C-reactive protein in percutaneous coronary intervention
Sammanfattning : An elevated preprocedural plasma or serum C-reactive protein (CRP) level in patients undergoing percutanous coronary intervention (PCI) is associated with short-, intermediate- and long-term outcome. Furthermore, the procedure itself has been shown to provoke an inflammatory reaction as shown by increased plasma CRP levels after PCI. LÄS MER
20. Development of a Method to Measure Plasma Levels of Activated Protein C in Complex with Protein C Inhibitor
Sammanfattning : Acute myocardial infarction (MI) and deep venous thrombosis (DVT) are conditions caused by thrombus formation with activation of the coagulation system. The plasma concentration of the complex between activated protein C (APC) and protein C inhibitor (PCI), APC–PCI complex is increased in such states. LÄS MER
