  1. 1. Pro- and anticoagulant activities of factor V

    Författare :Elisabeth Thorelli; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Klinisk kemi; Clinical chemistry; activated protein C; protein S; factor VIII; factor V; procoagulant; anticoagulant; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : Coagulation factor V (FV) is activated by thrombin through proteolytic cleavage at Arg-709, Arg-1018 and Arg-1545. Upon thrombin activation, the active form of factor V (FVa) is formed. FVa functions as a cofactor to factor Xa in the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin during coagulation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Structural and functional studies of factor V in health and disease

    Författare :Mårten Steen; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Klinisk kemi; Clinical chemistry; APC resistance and hemophilia; thrombosis; factor VIII; coagulation; factor V;

    Sammanfattning : The homologous blood coagulation factors V (FV) and factor VIII (FVIII) are important at sites of vascular injury for the amplification of the clotting cascade. Activated FV (FVa) serves as a cofactor to the enzyme activated factor X (FXa) in the activation of prothrombin. This complex is called the prothrombinase complex. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tissue Factor in Complex : Studies of interactions between blood coagulation proteins

    Författare :Karin Carlsson; Magdalena Svensson; Susanne Wisén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Many biological processes rely on specific protein-protein interactions, for example immune responses, cell signaling, transcription, and blood coagulation. Blood coagulation is initiated when a vessel wall is damaged, exposing tissue factor (TF) to the circulating factor VII/factor VIIa (FVII/FVIIa) which results in the formation of the TF:FVIIa complex and thereby the initiation of blood coagulation. 4. 4. A New Look into Protein C Inhibitor : Posttranslational Modifications and their Functions

    Författare :Wei Sun; Sophia Schedin Weiss; Hakon Leffler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Protein C inhibitor; posttranslational modifications; N-glycan; O-glycan; mass spectrometry; factor Xa; thrombin; prostate specific antigen; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The influences of posttranslational modifications on the functions of the versatile serpin protein C inhibitor (PCI) were studied. PCI is a serine protease inhibitor that is expressed in many tissues and secreted to various fluids in human, including blood plasma, seminal plasma, and urine. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The regulation of factor Va activity by activated protein C -Importance of the individual activated protein C cleavage sites in factor Va

    Författare :Eva Norström; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellulära vätskor; Hematologi; extracellular fluids; Haematology; activated protein C resistance; activated protein C; Blood coagulation; Factor V;

    Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is the activated protein C (APC)-mediated inactivation of factor Va. The activated form of factor V (FVa) is a procoagulant cofactor for Factor Xa (FXa) in the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin. LÄS MER
