16. Bio-based Composites from Soybean Oil Thermosets and Natural Fibers
Sammanfattning : In order to reduce over-dependency on fossil fuels and to create an environment that is free of non-degradable plastics, and most importantly to reduce greenhouse gas emission, bio-based products are being developed from renewable resources through intense research to substitute conventional petrochemical-based plastics with renewable alternatives and to replace synthetic fibers with natural fibers. Many authors have done quite a lot of work on synthesizing polymers from renewable origin. LÄS MER
17. Microalgae : future bioresource of the sea?
Sammanfattning : Unicellular microalgae are a renewable bioresource that can meet the challenge forfood and energy in a growing world population. Using sunlight, CO2, nutrients, and water, algal cells produce biomass in the form of sugars, proteins and oils, allof which carry commercial value as food, feed and bioenergy. LÄS MER
18. Ethological control of the Mediterranean fruit fly Ceratitis capitata (Wied.)
Sammanfattning : The Mediterranean fruit fly Ceratitis capitata (Diptera: Tephritidae) is a serious threat for the Bolivian fruit sector. Despite its importance, few efforts have focussed on the development of alternative techniques to broad spectrum pesticides, especially those that suppress the pest using odour-mediated behavior manipulation. 19. Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) sapwood modification by vinyl acetate-epoxidized plant oil copolymer : precursor syntheses, characterization, modified wood properties and durability
Sammanfattning : A new bio-based formulation consisting of plant oil and vinyl acetate was developed for wood modification aiming at improving some of the material’s properties. In–situ epoxidation of linseed oil (LO) and soybean oil (SO) was carried out at different times with purpose of preparing epoxidized oils with various epoxy content. LÄS MER
20. Macromolecular design : UV-curable thiol-ene networks based on renewable resources
Sammanfattning : Plant oils and terpenes are ubiquitous natural renewable compounds. The double bonds contained in most of these monomers can be utilized via the photo-induced free-radical thiol–ene reaction to create novel bio-derived polymer thermosets representing a valuable ‘green’ alternative to petrochemical olefins and resulting synthetic plastic materials.
