Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the significance of major neurotransmitters in the septohippocampal pathway for hippocampal-dependent learning and memory. The cholinergic and GABAergic neurons in the medial septal/vertical limb of the diagonal band of Broca area (MS/vDB) projecting to the hippocampus, constitute the septohippocampal pathway, which has been implicated in a number of important functions such as attention, anxietylike behavior and hippocampal-dependent learning and memory. Sammanfattning : NMDA receptors are glutamate-gated ion channels that are permeable to Ca2+. NMDA receptors are tetramers formed by a combination of subunits. In the present thesis, we describe the novel NR3B subunit that we cloned in mouse and human. NR3B was found to be expressed in the adult rat and human central nervous system (CNS). LÄS MER
