    Sammanfattning : Anxiety disorders are very common and the primary feature is abnormal or inappropriate anxiety. Fear and anxiety is often mediated by the amygdala, a brain structure rich in substance P (SP) and neurokinin 1 (NK1) receptors. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Serotonin in Fear and Anxiety

    Författare :S Melker Hagsäter; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serotonin; anxiety; fear; SSRI; IBS;

    Sammanfattning : That the neurotransmitter serotonin (5-HT) has a central role in fear and anxiety is supported by numerous experimental and clinical studies. Arguably the most illustrative example is the effect of serotonergic-acting drugs, and in particular the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), in the treatment of anxiety disorders. 3. 3. Perspectives of anxiety in stressful environments : Prospective studies in real-life settings

    Författare :Magnus Lindén; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Applied and experimental psychology; individual differences; executive control; prospective; anxiety; stress; Tillämpad och experimentell psykologi; stress;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis deals with perspectives of anxiety experienced in stressful environments. As such two major issues are addressed. 4. 4. Psychiatric and metabolic disturbances in experimental models of Huntington’s disease

    Författare :Sofia Hult Lundh; Translationell neuroendokrinologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Huntington’s disease; huntingtin; hypothalamus; depression; anxiety; metabolism; neuroendocrinology; mouse models; BACHD; rAAV vectors; leptin;

    Sammanfattning : Non-motor symptoms and signs such as metabolic and psychiatric disturbances have been reported to occur early in Huntington’s disease (HD), a fatal neurodegenerative disorder caused by an expanded CAG repeat in the huntingtin gene. However, there is a lack of understanding of the underlying neurobiological mechanisms responsible for the early non-motor features. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Psychological and Medical Well-being and their Relation in Adults with Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus

    Författare :Björn Karlson; Institutionen för psykologi; []

    Sammanfattning : This thesis includes five studies involving different samples of adult patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). Studies one and two concern effects on metabolic control and quality of life of changing from conventional insulin treatment with three syringe injections per day to an intensified insulin treatment with three syringe injections daily using an insulin pen.
