  1. 1. Game theory and applications

    Författare :Carl-Joar Karlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; non-cooperative game theory; prisoner s dilemma; disease; distribution; compartmental model; epidemiological model; game theory; equilibrium strategy;

    Sammanfattning : Individual-level interactions and decisions spread though populations and change the collective-level dynamics in an intricate way. Nevertheless, game theory is well suited for the unification of these viewpoints. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Generalized Vandermonde matrices and determinants in electromagnetic compatibility

    Författare :Karl Lundengård; Sergei Silvestrov; Dietrich von Rosen; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Sammanfattning : Matrices whose rows (or columns) consists of monomials of sequential powers are called Vandermonde matrices and can be used to describe several useful concepts and have properties that can be helpful for solving many kinds of problems. In this thesis we will discuss this matrix and some of its properties as well as a generalization of it and how it can be applied to curve fitting discharge current for the purpose of ensuring electromagnetic compatibility. 3. 3. Feature Informativeness, Curse-of-Dimensionality and Error Probability in Discriminant Analysis

    Författare :Tatjana Pavlenko; Matematisk statistik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistics; Matematik; Mathematics; feature selection; Discriminant analysis; feature informativeness; growing dimension assymptotics; operations research; operationsanalys; programmering; aktuariematematik; programming; actuarial mathematics; Statistik; Multivariate analysis; MATHEMATICS;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on four papers on high-dimensional discriminant analysis. Throughout, the curse-of-dimensionality effect on the precision of the discrimination performance is emphasized. A growing dimension asymptotic approach is used for assessing this effect and the limiting error probability are taken as the performance criteria. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Prostate cancer incidence, treatment and mortality : Empirical longitudinal register-based studies and methods for handling missing data

    Författare :Marcus Westerberg; Rolf Larsson; Hans Garmo; Pär Stattin; Jimmy Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; statistics; mathematics; prostate cancer; missing data; survival analysis; longitudinal models; incidence; treatment; mortality; Mathematical Statistics; Matematisk statistik; Statistics; Statistik; Urologi; Urology; Epidemiologi; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : The diagnostic activity for prostate cancer has increased substantially in Sweden, primarily due to increased use of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing in asymptomatic men, and this has led to a large increase in diagnoses. There have also been changes in the diagnostic workup, guidelines, treatment strategies, and more effective treatments have been introduced in different phases of the disease. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Position Estimation in Uncertain Radio Environments and Trajectory Learning

    Författare :Yuxin Zhao; Fredrik Gunnarsson; Fredrik Gustafsson; Carsten Fritsche; Henk Wymeersch; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : To infer the hidden states from the noisy observations and make predictions based on a set of input states and output observations are two challenging problems in many research areas. Examples of applications many include position estimation from various measurable radio signals in indoor environments, self-navigation for autonomous cars, modeling and predicting of the traffic flows, and flow pattern analysis for crowds of people.
