16. Effects of Biomechanical Stress on Gene Regulation in Vascular Cells
Sammanfattning : The vascular vessel wall is constantly exposed to biomechanical forces, such as shear and tensile stress. Biomechanical forces are important for several physiological and pathological processes and have been shown to regulate a number of fundamental vascular functions, such as vascular tone and remodeling processes. 17. Gender-related small artery function : implications for estrogenic compounds
Sammanfattning : Background: Vascular effects of estrogens have been shown to be mediated by estrogen receptor (ER)α. The discovery of ERβ, which shares many similarities with ERα, brought about a reevaluation of the role of the ER subtypes (ERs) in the vasculature. LÄS MER
18. Capillary electroseparations in pharmaceutical analysis of basic drugs and related substances
Sammanfattning : Capillary electroseparation methods are exciting new techniques with very broad application areas and vast potential in pharmaceutical and biomedical analysis. To improve the limit of detection (LOD) capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) has been combined with isotachophoretic (ITP) preconcentration in a single capillary. LÄS MER
19. A Study of the Heat Flow in the Blast Furnace Hearth Lining
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present thesis was to study the heat flows in the blast furnace hearth lining by experimental measurements and numerical modeling. Thermocouple data from an operating furnace have been used throughout the work, to verify results and to develop methodologies to use the results in further studies. LÄS MER
20. Thermal response tests : influence of convective flow in groundwater filled borehole heat exchanger
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this doctorial thesis was to investigate how thermally induced movements in the groundwater (natural convective flow) may influence the heat transport in borehole and surrounding bedrock in a groundwater filled borehole heat exchanger system. The purpose was also to determine if thermal response tests could be used to detect the convective influence and the effect on evaluated heat transfer parameters, effective bedrock thermal conductivity and borehole thermal resistance.
