1. P2-purinergic receptors : new ligands, structure and signal transduction with emphasis on the guinea pig cochlea
Sammanfattning : .... LÄS MER
2. Novel functions of cardiovascular P2 receptors
Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to examine the expression and function of the extracellular nucleotide P2 receptors in the cardiovascular system. In the cardiovascular system nucleotides are released during shear stress, hypoxia, ischemia, from endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, aggregating platelets, inflammatory cells and erythrocytes. 3. Expression and Regulation of P2 Receptors in Human Circulation
Sammanfattning : P2 receptors mediate the actions of the extracellular nucleotides ATP, ADP, UTP and UDP regulating several physiological responses including cardiac function, vascular tone, smooth muscle cell (SMC) proliferation, platelet aggregation, and the release of endothelial factors. The aim of the present study was to investigate the mRNA and protein expression of P2 receptors in human SMCs, endothelial cells (ECs), erythrocytes and platelets, the regulation of P2 receptors under shear stress in human vessels, the changes of platelet P2 receptors in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and the regulation of plasma ATP levels by P2 receptor on erythrocytes. 4. Vascular Effects of P2 Receptors. Changes in Congestive Heart Failure
Sammanfattning : Extracellular nucleotides induce dilatation and constriction of blood vessels by activation of P2 receptors. In this thesis the vasomotor effects of P2 receptor activation were studied in the rat mesenteric artery, and their changes in congestive heart failure (CHF) were evaluated using in vitro pharmacology, electrophysiology and competitive RT-PCR. 5. Effects of Biomechanical Stress on Gene Regulation in Vascular Cells
Sammanfattning : The vascular vessel wall is constantly exposed to biomechanical forces, such as shear and tensile stress. Biomechanical forces are important for several physiological and pathological processes and have been shown to regulate a number of fundamental vascular functions, such as vascular tone and remodeling processes.
