    Författare :Bengt Johansson; Jan Persliden; Jan Nyman; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PDR; brachytherapy; outcome; partial breast irradiation; base of tongue cancer; lip cancer; quality of life; dosimetry.; Oncology; Onkologi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Onkologi; Oncology; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Brachytherapy (BT) with continuous low dose rate (LDR) has been used for 100 years and is considered as the radiotherapy method able to deliver a dose in the shortest time with high efficacy and low risk of side effects. The drawbacks are need for patient isolation and radiation exposure of the staff during the treatment. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are essential building blocks in every living cell, and since the complete human genome was sequenced in 2004, researchers have attempted to map the human proteome, which is the functional representation of the genome. One such initiative is the Human Protein Atlas programme (HPA), which generates monospecific antibodies towards all human proteins and uses these for high-throughput tissue profiling on tissue microarrays (TMAs). 3. 43. Clinical impact of epoetins in the treatment of anemia with special emphasis on patients with lymphoid malignancies. : dosing, iron supplementation and safety

    Författare :Michael Hedenus; Jack Lindh; Anders Österborg; Robert Hast; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anemia; cancer; lymphoproliferative malignancies; erythropoietin; intravenous iron; safety; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to determine the relevant dose of arbepoetin-alfa (DA) in patients with lymphoproliferative diseases (LPD) and chemotherapy induced anemia (CIA), to study the clinical impact of intravenous (IV) iron supplementation combined with epoetin beta treatment, to identify factors that might predict hemoglobin (Hb) response to treatment with epoetins and to investigate safety of DA.A dose-finding phase II study was able to assess a reasonable DA dose of 2. 4. 44. Circulating platelets : a novel liquid biopsy source for cancer diagnostics and therapy stratification

    Författare :Lee-Ann Tjon-Kon-Fat; Jonas Nilsson; Pernilla Wikström; Michiel Pegtel; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; platelets; biomarkers; liquid biopsy; therapy stratification; personalised medicine; Prostate cancer;

    Sammanfattning : As conventional tissue biopsies have several drawbacks, much effort has been directed toward the development of minimal-invasive liquid biopsy platforms for detecting and profiling cancer.Platelets are the second most abundant cells in blood and have very versatile functions both in physiological and pathophysiological conditions. 5. 45. Register studies of cancer in the Southern Health Care Region in Sweden

    Författare :Bo Attner; Medicinsk onkologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer risk; epidemiology; incidence; comorbidity; survival; partner; health care costs; population-based register study;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim was to study different aspect of health care use and health care costs on a population based level for persons with cancer and their partners, and from an individual level to explore the impact of comorbidities in incidence and survival. In the beginning of the study all persons in the Southern Health Care Region in Sweden diagnosed with colon, rectal, breast, prostate and lung cancer during the period 2000 to 2005 were identified via the Swedish Cancer Register.
