  1. 36. Spatial immune analyses in clinical cancer tissue

    Författare :Max Backman; Patrick Micke; Fredrik Pontén; Johan Botling; Kurt Schalper; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; immune landscape; non-small cell lung cancer; immune cells; multiplex immunofluorescence; spatial analysis; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer is a leading cause of premature death and lung cancer is the deadliest cancer type, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) representing 85% of lung cancer cases. Despite promising development in cancer treatment in recent decades, overall prognosis is poor. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Prognosis, Prediction and Risk Assessment in the Prevention and Treatment of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

    Författare :Martin Sandelin; Christer Janson; Henrik Riska; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chemoradiation therapy; induction chemotherapy; thrombocytosis; anaemia; leucocytosis; EGFR; guidelines; molecular pathology; ACOS; COPD; risk assessment; comorbidities; Lung Medicine; Lungmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Lung cancer causes more deaths than any other cancer. Smoking causes roughly 90% of lung cancer cases. Concurrent chemoradiation therapy is the standard of care for stage IIIb patients with performance status (PS) 0-1. A less toxic approach is warranted for less fit patients. LÄS MER

  3. 38. An integrative strategy for targeted evaluation of biomarker expression in non-small cell lung cancer

    Författare :Johanna Mattsson; Patrick Micke; Johan Botling; Fredrik Pontén; Åslaug Helland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; non-small cell lung cancer; prognostic biomarkers; predictive biomarkers; immunohistochemistry; gene expression; COX-2; claudin; ALK; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Despite improvements in therapy, the prognosis for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients remains poor, and cure is only possible in localized tumors after surgical resection. A new generation of targeted cancer drugs has led to the expectation that lung cancer therapy can be significantly improved, but these drugs are today only an option in a small subset of NSCLC patients, and their effect is temporary. 4. 39. Therapeutic Cancer Vaccines Targeting Molecules Associated with Tumor Angiogenesis

    Författare :Julia Femel; Anna-Karin Olsson; Grietje (Ingrid) Molema; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tumor; therapeutic; cancer vaccine; angiogenesis; vasculature; fibronectin; galectin-1; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap; Biomedical Laboratory Science; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Induction of an endogenous antibody response by therapeutic vaccination could provide an alternative to cost-intensive monoclonal antibody-based treatments for cancer. Since the target of a cancer vaccine will most likely be a self-antigen, self-tolerance of the immune system must be circumvented. LÄS MER

  5. 40. Pathophysiological impact of targeting the ROS-p53 axis

    Författare :Volkan I. Sayin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Antioxidants; Cancer; p53; ROS; atherosclerosis;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of this PhD thesis was to define the importance of the interplay between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and their activation of the tumor suppressor p53 in development and disease. We addressed this question using molecular biology and biochemical techniques together with mouse genetics and bioinformatics. LÄS MER
