  1. 1. Long-term outcome research on PDR brachytherapy with focus on breast, base of tongue and lip cancer

    Författare :Bengt Johansson; Jan Persliden; Jan Nyman; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PDR; brachytherapy; outcome; partial breast irradiation; base of tongue cancer; lip cancer; quality of life; dosimetry.; Oncology; Onkologi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Onkologi; Oncology; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Brachytherapy (BT) with continuous low dose rate (LDR) has been used for 100 years and is considered as the radiotherapy method able to deliver a dose in the shortest time with high efficacy and low risk of side effects. The drawbacks are need for patient isolation and radiation exposure of the staff during the treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Meta-analysis of randomized clinical evidence of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and endocrine therapy in breast cancer

    Författare :Antonis Valachis; Vassilios Georgoulias; Dimitros Mavroudis; Gregory Chouverakis; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; Meta -analysis; Bisphosphonates; Bevacizumab; Trastuzumab; Fulvestrant;

    Sammanfattning :  Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer death in females worldwide. Despite the growing body of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) regarding the use of various treatment strategies (chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, radiotherapy) in breast cancer, the efficacy of some strategies remains unclear and questionable. 3. 3. Description and prediction of clinical radiosensitivity : emphasis on normal tissue reactions

    Författare :Roger Tell; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Radiotherapy; radiosensitivity; normal tissue; thyroid; cell cycle; lung injury;

    Sammanfattning : There is a range in the severity of normal tissue reactions observed when cancer patients receive radiotherapy (RT). The limits of dosage in RT have empirically been set by doses that have caused severe reactions in the most sensitive patients. The understanding of factors governing variations of radiosensitivity is therefore very important in RT. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Anti-tumour effect in solid tumours, tolerance and immune reconstition after allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation

    Författare :Patrik Hentschke; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Both in haematological malignancies and in disseminated solid tumours, re-occurrence of the underlying disease is the main complication. Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) increases the chance of cure compared to only chemotherapy in haematological malignancies, but adds the risk of immunological complications such as graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and severe infections.
