  1. 6. Islet Amyloid Polypeptide: Interaction with Amyloid Beta, Alpha-Synuclein and BRICHOS

    Författare :Ye Wang; Gunilla Westermark; Ludmilla Morozova-Roche; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amyloid; IAPP; Abeta; alpha-synuclein; Bri2 BRICHOS; luminescent conjugated oligothiophenes; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning :  Amyloid, the congophilic deposits of misfolded protein, are pathological hallmarks of many common diseases, among others, Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), and type 2 diabetes (T2D). Amyloid beta (Aβ) forms senile plaques in AD, alpha-synuclein (aSyn) forms Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites in PD, islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) forms islet amyloid in T2D. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Studies of in vivo prostate amyloidosis and autoimmune responses towards amyloid structures in neurodegeneration

    Författare :Kiran Yanamandra; Ludmilla Morozova-Roche; Dina Raveh; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amyloid; amyloidosis; immune reactivity; S100A8 A9; insulin; α-synuclein; Biochemistry; Biokemi; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : By using multidisciplinary analysis of CA inclusions in prostate glands of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer, we have revealed that their major components are the amyloid forms of S100A8 and S100A9 proteins associated with numerous inflammatory conditions and types of cancer. We have demonstrated that material closely resembling CA can be produced from S100A8/A9 in vitro and shows the characters of amyloids. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Structural studies of heterogeneous amyloid species of lysozymes and de novo protein albebetin and their cytotoxicity

    Författare :Vladimir Zamotin; Ludmilla Morozova-Roche; Daniel Otzen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amyloid; cytotoxicity; atomic force microscopy; Biophysics; Biofysik;

    Sammanfattning : A number of diseases are linked to protein folding problems which lead to the deposition of insoluble protein plaques in the brain or other organs. These diseases include prion diseases such as Creutzfeld-Jakob disease, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and type II (non-insulin dependent) diabetes. LÄS MER
