  1. 31. Fermentative hydrogen and methane productions using membrane bioreactors

    Författare :Julius Akinbomi; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Encapsulation; Inhibition; hydrodynamics; hydrogen; methane; fruit flavour; Membrane bioreactor; Resursåtervinning; Resource Recovery;

    Sammanfattning : The role of energy as a stimulant for economic growth and environmental sustainabilityof any nation has made the focus on green fuels, including fermentative hydrogen (bioH2) andmethane (bioCH4), to be a priority for the World’s policy makers. Nigeria, as the most populousAfrican country, with worsening energy crisis, can benefit from the introduction of the bioH2 andbioCH4 technologies into the country’s energy mix, since such technologies have the potential ofgenerating energy from organic wastes such as fruit waste. 2. 32. EVALUATION OF BIOLOGICAL STRATEGIES TO ENHANCE HYDROLYSIS DURING ANAEROBIC DIGESTION OF COMPLEX WASTE

    Författare :Dores Cirne; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Biotechnology; bioaugmentation; enzyme addition; Environmental technology; pollution control; FISH; cellulose; inhibition; lipids; Clostridium lundense; hydrolysis; complex substrate; Anaerobic digestion; renewable energy; Bioteknik; LCFA;

    Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion (AD) offers considerable potential in the production of energy from renewable sources, and is being increasingly recognised as a sustainable technology for the treatment of waste. The production of energy from waste such as municipal solid waste (MSW), lipid-rich waste, and agricultural biomass and waste may play an important role in the production of renewable energy given the huge amounts of these types of waste generated annually. 3. 33. Temporal variation and phytotoxicity of Batatasin-III produced by Empetrum hermaphroditum

    Författare :Anna Wallstedt; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palaeobotany; nitrogen uptake; photosynthesis; inhibition; temporal variation; chemical interference; boreal forest; Empetrum hermaphroditum; batatasin-III; phylogeny; palynology; Paleobotanik; fylogeni; palynologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : In northern Sweden, the clonal dwarf shrub Empetrum hermaphroditum Hagerup exerts strong inhibitory effects on other plant species. These inhibitory effects may, at least in part, be attributed to the high production of the secondary metabolite, batatasin-III, which is released from leaves and transported to the soil by rain (throughfall) and snowmelt. 4. 34. Sensitivity, Noise and Detection of Enzyme Inhibition in Progress Curves

    Författare :Omar Gutierrez Arenas; Helena Danielson; Athel Cornish-Bowden; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Progress curves; limit of detection; Z -factor; primary screening; enzyme inhibition; error structure; sensitivity analysis; High-throughput screning; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Starting with the development of an enzymatic assay, where an enzyme in solution hydrolysed a solid-phase bound peptide, a model for the kinetics of enzyme action was introduced. This model allowed the estimation of kinetic parameters and enzyme activity for a system that has the peculiarity of not being saturable with the substrate, but with the enzyme. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Planning and inhibition in corvids

    Författare :Can Kabadayi; LUCS grupp för kognitiv zoologi; []
    Nyckelord :executive functions; corvids; evolution of cognition; planning; inhibitory control; homoplasy;

    Sammanfattning : Executive functions (EF) denote the host of top-down mental processes that mediate self-regulation to achieve a goal. Among other things, EF support cognitive flexibility by allowing inhibition of automatic responses in favour of obtaining future goals. LÄS MER
