16. Baeyer-Villiger Monooxygenases from a Dietzia sp. - Enzyme Discovery, Characterization and Engineering
Sammanfattning : With the emergence of Green Chemistry, biocatalysis is becoming an important approach in many laboratory and industrial processes. Enzymes catalyse chemical reactions with high regio- and stereoselectivity at mild conditions and, most importantly, are able to form products that are not possible to obtain by conventional synthetic chemistry. 17. Composite Cryogels: Stationary Phase for Separation of Complex Media
Sammanfattning : Demands for efficient, economical and fast separation and purification methods for various target molecules have led to the development of new techniques and materials for bioseparation processes. Separation can be carried out in both batch and chromatographic modes. LÄS MER
18. Instrumentation, Control and Automation in Anaerobic Digestion
Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a biochemical process in nature. It has been used to decompose organic waste in order to reduce environmental pollution, and to destroy pathogenic microorganisms for the protection of human and animal health. The process itself produces methane, which can then be used as an energy source. LÄS MER
19. Spatially Controlled Covalent Immobilization of Biomolecules on Silicon Surfaces
Sammanfattning : The work described in this thesis aims to achieving surface patterning through chemical activation of thiolated silicon oxide surfaces, resulting in a spatially controlled covalent immobilization of biomolecules with high resolution.Existing chemical methods to immobilize molecules on surfaces do not reach below the micrometer scale while the ones allowing for spatial control mostly lead to non-covalent adsorption of molecules on surfaces, or require several successive chemical reactions to obtain the final covalent immobilization. 20. Lipase-Mediated Syntheses of Trimethylolpropane-Based Biolubricant and Cyclic Carbonate
Sammanfattning : Abstract Biocatalysis is considered as benign and efficient alternative to chemical catalysis for organic syntheses. Lipases are the most versatile biological catalysts implemented so far with great potential for production of different chemicals and materials in non-conventional reaction media. LÄS MER
