  1. 6. Feedback Enhancement of Immune Responses by IgE, IgM, and IgG3 Antibodies

    Författare :Zhoujie Ding; Birgitta Heyman; Eva Severinson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgE; IgM; IgG3; antibody responses; T-cell responses; antigen transportation; antigen presentation; complement; complement receptors 1 and 2; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Antibodies can enhance or suppress the immune responses against their specific antigens. This phenomenon is known as antibody-mediated feedback regulation. We have studied the mechanisms underlying IgE-, IgM-, and IgG3-mediated enhancement of immune responses in mouse models using intravenous immunization. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Early Immunostimulatory Effects of IgE- and IgG Antibodies

    Författare :Fredrik Hjelm; Birgitta Heyman; Sandra Kleinau; Robert Harris; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Immunology; Antibodies; Fc receptors; Antigen presentation; B cells; T cells; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Antibodies have the ability to influence their own production in a process called antibody feedback regulation. Depending on the type of antigen and the subclass of the antibody, the outcome of feedback regulation can be complete suppression or several hundred-fold enhancement of the antibody response. 3. 8. Modulation of B cell access to antigen by passively administered antibodies : an explanation for antibody feedback regulation?

    Författare :Hui Xu; Birgitta Heyman; Helena Harris; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgG; IgG3; IgE; suppression; enhancement; epitope masking; antigen transport; antigen presentation; follicular B cells; marginal zone B cells; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Antibody responses can be up- or down-regulated by passive administration of specific antibody together with antigen. Depending on the structure of the antigen and the antibody isotype, responses can be completely suppressed or enhanced up to a 1000-fold of what is seen in animals immunized with antigen alone. 4. 9. Fcγ-receptors in systemic autoimmune conditions : lessons from murine mercury-induced autoimmunity

    Författare :Klara Martinsson; Per Hultman; Karin Cederbrant; Johan Rönnelid; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we investigated the role of activating (FcγRI, FcγRIII) and inhibitory (FcγRIIB) Fcγ-receptors on systemic autoimmunity using two mouse strains, DBA/1 (H-2q) and BALB/c mice (H-2d), susceptible to induction of autoimmunity by mercury (Hg).Fc-receptors for IgG (FcγR) link cellular and humoral immune responses, control the balance between activating and inhibitory immune responses and are important in the development of several autoimmune diseases. 5. 10. Cytokines and their soluble receptors in nasal fluids from school children with allergic rhinitis

    Författare :Mikael Benson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Allergic rhinitis; school children; cytokines; soluble cytokine receptors; nasal fluids;

    Sammanfattning : Allergic inflammation is associated with a shift in the balance between cytokines produced by two T helper subsets (Th1 and Th2) towards a preponderance of Th2 cells. Interleukin (IL)-4 is produced by Th2 cells and interferon-g (IFN-g) by Th1 cells. The ratio IL-4/IFN-g is often used as a marker of the balance between the cytokines. LÄS MER
