11. La syllepse. Étude d'une figure de rhétorique dans l'oeuvre de Francis Ponge
Sammanfattning : This doctoral dissertation deals with the figure of speech called “syllepsis” and, more particularly, with the way it is used in the work of the French poet Francis Ponge (1899-1988). The aim of the study is to highlight and describe features characteristic of his use of syllepsis, by means of a qualitative approach, to begin with, and then through quantitative analyses, based on a corpus consisting of 90 texts. 12. Textteori för läsforskare
Sammanfattning : The dissertation examines a prevalent problem in reception studies: how can we actually observe and describe the text (defined as an element that enables and restricts reading experiences) as either given and transcendent to any reading practice or as uniquely produced in each reading? The author tries to find a solution by aid of Wittgenstein's philosophy of language, Kenneth Burke's socio-rhetorics and Niklas Luhmann's systems theory. These perspectives are discussed in turn and tested in readings of a few pages on Mayakovsky and futurism taken from a textbook. LÄS MER
13. Stellar Models in General Relativity
Sammanfattning : Neutron stars are some of the most fascinating objects in Nature. Essentially all aspects of physics seems to be represented inside them. Their cores are likely to contain deconfined quarks, hyperons and other exotic phases of matter in which the strong interaction is the dominant force. LÄS MER
14. Perturbative Methods in General Relativity
Sammanfattning : Einstein's theory of general relativity is a cornerstone in the process of gaining increased understanding about problems of gravitational nature. It can be applied to problems on the huge length scales of cosmology and as far as we know it does not break down before the Planck scale is approached. LÄS MER
15. Pulmonary Atelectasis in General Anaesthesia : Clinical Studies on the Counteracting Effects of Positive End-Expiratory Pressure
Sammanfattning : Partial lung collapse, i.e., pulmonary atelectasis, is common during general anaesthesia. The main causal mechanism is reduced lung volume with airway closure and subsequent gas absorption from preoxygenated alveoli. LÄS MER
