26. Tartrate resistant acid phosphatase 5a : a potential regulator of adipocyte cell number and differentiation in white adipose tissue
Sammanfattning : Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) exists in two isoforms, TRAP 5a which is monomeric and TRAP 5b which is a dimer generated by proteolytic cleavage of TRAP 5a, that exhibit different functions and localizations. TRAP 5a is expressed by adipose tissue macrophages and secreted into the extracellular environment and has been shown to lead to hyperplastic insulin-sensitive obesity when over-expressed in mice. 27. Molecular factors influencing epithelial-mesenchymal transition in breast cancer
Sammanfattning : Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a developmental process defined by loss of epithelial characteristics and acquisition of mesenchymal phenotype. EMT or similar processes are also implicated in carcinoma cell invasion and the progression of breast carcinoma to metastasis. LÄS MER
28. Novel aspects of Na+,K+-ATPase
Sammanfattning : Na,K-ATPase, an integral membrane protein expressed in each eukaryotic cell, serves as the major determinant of intracellular ion composition. In the current study we investigated novel aspects of Na,K-ATPase function and regulation. It is well established that Na,K-ATPase activity is regulated by reversible phosphorylation. LÄS MER
29. Development and preclinical assessment of novel therapies for Epilepsy. Exploring the potential of human-derived cell lines and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor for network inhibition
Sammanfattning : Epilepsy is one of the leading neurological disorders affecting not only patients who suffer from seizures but also people around them and society in general. The striking one third of patients not responding to pharmacological treatments implies the necessity of developing alternative options for controlling seizures in these individuals. LÄS MER
30. Regulation of GRAF1 membrane sculpting function during cell movement
Sammanfattning : All eukaryotic cells rely on endocytic events to satisfy a constant need for nutrient and fluid uptake from their surroundings. Endocytosis-dependent turnover of cell surface constituents also serves to control signal transduction and establish morphological changes in response to extracellular stimuli. LÄS MER
