6. Genital tract CD4+ T cells for vaccination and protection against Chlamydia trachomatis
Sammanfattning : Vaccination strategies for protection against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are lacking due to an incomplete understanding of genital tract T cell responses. This thesis dissects the generation of T helper subsets, including the recently discovered Th17 subset, during genital tract infection with a common sexually transmitted pathogen, Chlamydia trachomatis, and addresses vaccine requirements for the generation of genital tract CD4+ T cell immunity. 7. Effects of hypoxia on macrophage function in atherosclerosis
Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis is a complex disease, which affects large and medium sized arteries and is characterized by an arterial wall thickening. A constant supply of oxygen is needed to maintain cell functions in the atherosclerotic plaque. The oxygen distribution to the cells in the arterial wall depends on diffusion. LÄS MER
8. Ester Boman, Tyringe helpension och teatern : drama på en reformpedagogisk flickskola 1909-1936
Sammanfattning : It has long been taken for granted that no serious drama work was done in Swedish schools before the 1950s. However, at the Tyringe Helpension – a progressive education girls’ boarding school that existed between the years 1909-1936 – drama was used as a method in many school subjects, as well as for social training. 9. Organic Hole Transport Materials for Solid-State Dye-Sensitized and Perovskite Solar Cells
Sammanfattning : Solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (ssDSSCs) and recently developed perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted a great attention in the scientific field of photovoltaics due to their low cost, absence of solvent, simple fabrication and promising power conversion efficiency (PCE). In these types of solar cell, the dye molecule or the perovskite can harvest the light on the basis of electron excitation. LÄS MER
10. Materials aspects in spin-coated films for polymer photovoltaics
Sammanfattning : Polymer-based photovoltaics have the potential to contribute to boosting photovoltaic energy conversion overall. Besides allowing large-area inexpensive processing, polymeric materials have the added benefit of opening new market applications for photovoltaics due to their low-weight and interesting mechanical properties.
