11. Storyforming : Experiments in creating discursive engagements between people, things and environments
Sammanfattning : This thesis introduces and critically reflects on a design programme, Storyforming, that explores ways to design objects and places to enrich daily life narratives. Using an experimental design approach, the goal is to exemplify and explore this idea with discursive artefacts that, through their physical and temporal form, act as catalysts in the construction of meaningful experiences. 12. On the performance of stratified ventilation
Sammanfattning : People nowadays spend most of their time indoors, for example in their homes, cars, in trains, at work, etc. In Sweden, the energy demand in the built environment is a growing issue. LÄS MER
13. Optical Diagnostics for Engine Efficiency in Gasoline Compression Ignition
Sammanfattning : The internal combustion engine has played a significant role in a vast number of applications from small cars to giant tankers, setting people free from geographical barriers and heavy labor. However, it has also generated many tons of harmful emissions and CO2that damage to humans and the environment. LÄS MER
14. High Octane Number Fuels in Advanced Combustion Modes for Sustainable Transportation
Sammanfattning : The research community recently proposed a low-temperature combustion (LTC) concept that can simultaneously reduce Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and soot emissions while maintaining high engine efficiency. Given that diesel fuel is prone to preignition with early injection, gasoline-like fuel with high octane number is utilised to provide sufficient ignition delay and extend the load range. LÄS MER
15. Electromechanics of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines
Sammanfattning : Wind power is an established mean of clean energy production and the modern horizontal axis wind turbine has become a common sight. The need for maintenance is high and future wind turbines may need to be improved to enable more remote and offshore locations. LÄS MER
