  1. 11. Evolutionary consequences of ecological interactions

    Författare :Etsuko Nonaka; Åke Brännström; Göran Englund; Richard Svanbäck; Per Lundberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; adaptive dynamics; eco-evolutionary dynamics; ecological speciation; ecosystem; individual based; population dynamics; phenotypic plasticity; predator-prey; sexual selection;

    Sammanfattning : Eco-evolutionary dynamics integrates the reciprocal interactions betweenecology and evolution. These two branches of biology traditionally assumethe other as static for simplicity. However, increasing evidence shows thatthis simplification may not always hold because ecology and evolution canoperate in similar timescales. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Ecological drivers and genetic signatures of evolutionary divergence and local adaptation in pike (Esox lucius)

    Författare :Johanna Sunde; Anders Forsman; Anssi Laurila; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; adaptation; differentiation; Esox lucius; evolution; gene flow; genetic admixture; genetic structure; microsatellites; pike; RADseq; salinity tolerance; temperature tolerance; Ecology; Ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : The diversity among species, populations, and individuals in nature is astonishing. Genetic and phenotypic variation constitutes the raw material for evolution. It influences how populations respond to changing environments, and can impact long-term survival of species and ecosystem functioning. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Venture capital as a tool for regional development: Exit patterns and long-term consequences

    Författare :Per Hulthén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Ecosystem.; Venture Capital; Startups; Entrepreneurship; Exit; Policy;

    Sammanfattning : Venture capital (VC) funded high-tech startups are often cited drivers of economic impact and catalysts of regional growth. Public support of high-tech startups and investments into venture capital has thus been a popular focus for public policy globally in the past decades. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Links Between Structure and Function of Heterotrophic Aquatic Bacterial Communities

    Författare :Silke Langenheder; Lars Tranvik; Eva Lindström; David Kirchman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; heterotrophic bacteria; dissolved organic matter; diversity; community composition; ecosystem functioning; salinity; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Heterotrophic bacteria utilize dissolved organic matter, and the carbon flow through an ecosystem depends on the fractions of the utilized carbon that is either respired or transferred to higher trophic levels. The major aim this thesis is to investigate 1) the relationship between composition and functioning in heterotrophic bacterioplankton communities and 2) the influence of environmental conditions on both parameters. 5. 15. Cyanobacteria in symbiosis with boreal forest feathermosses : from genome evolution and gene regulation to impact on the ecosystem

    Författare :Denis Warshan; Ulla Rasmussen; Elke Dittmann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cyanobacteria; Feathermosses; Symbiosis; Boreal forest; Gene flow; Proteogenomic; Transcriptomic; Community structure and composition; Dinitrogen fixation; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Among dinitrogen (N2)-fixing some cyanobacteria can establish symbiosis with a broad range of host plants from all plant lineages including bryophytes, ferns, gymnosperms, and angiosperms. In the boreal forests, the symbiosis between epiphytic cyanobacteria and feathermosses Hylocomium splendens and Pleurozium schreberi is ecologically important. LÄS MER
