  1. 11. Living the Change : Designerly modes of real-life experimentation

    Författare :Martin Sjöman; Sara Ilstedt; Susanne Nilsson; Dan Lockton; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; design methods; transition design; participatory design; living labs; experimentation; sustainability; Art; Technology and Design; Konst; teknik och design; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : The sustainability transitions required to address the climate crisis cannot be achieved by technology alone; radical lifestyle changes are needed. To contribute to meeting this critical challenge, design must move its focus from individual needs, desires, and behaviors to the level of the complex socio-technical systems that shape our society. 2. 12. Agency and Artefacts : A cognitive semiotic exploration of design

    Författare :Juan Mendoza-Collazos; Kognitiv semiotik; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Agency; enhanced agency; agency hierarchy; derived agency; material agency; intentionality; prior intentions; intentions in action; pictorial representations; artefacts; tool-making; design theory; design semiotics; design research; phenomenology; cognitive semiotics; agentive semiotics; semiotic hierarchy; 4E cognition; bio-cultural evolution; philosophy of design; philosophy of technology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the role of artefacts in relation to human agency and design within a cognitive semiotics framework. It deals with questions such as What is agency? What are artefacts and how does agency relate to them? What kind of intentions are involved in the activity of designing? What is human-specific with respect to agency and design? How can the origins and evolution of design be explained? Addressing these questions, the thesis proposes a layered model of agency for explaining the relations between different grades of agentive complexity. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Produktionsnoveller : Om Folkforms arbete med Masonite och andra material

    Författare :Anna Holmquist; Sara Ilstedt; Mona Livholts; Johanna Rosenqvist; Andreas Nobel; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Industrial craftsmanship; design; narrative methodology; practice-led research; material; Masonite; Production Novellas; design research; Folkform; Industriellt hantverk; design; narrativ metod; praktikbaserad forskning; material; Masonite; produktionsnoveller; designforskning; Folkform; Art; Technology and Design; Konst; teknik och design;

    Sammanfattning : A large part of the production today is manufactured so far from the consumer that there is no connection to the production. That there have historically been direct connections between an industry and the people, local traditions and material assets of the place is easily forgotten. LÄS MER

  4. 14. The Myth of the Silhouette : On form thinking in knitwear design

    Författare :Karin Landahl; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; knitwear design; form thinking; silhouette; practice-based design research; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents and discusses the results of foundational experimental designresearch in the field of fashion design methodology, with a particular focus onknitwear. The research explored and broadened the foundations of form-thinkingin the design process for knitwear and knitting, with the objective of developingalternative form-concepts and working methods relevant to practitioners andstudents active in the field. 5. 15. Circular design through co-creation: Exploring perspectives and future directions for design in a circular economy

    Författare :Giliam Dokter; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Circular Economy; Co-creation; Design practice; Prototyping; Design for Sustainability; Circular Design;

    Sammanfattning : In the efforts to stimulate sustainable development, the circular economy aims to establish ‘closed-loop’ flows of resources in a way that enables businesses and society to reap benefits from maintaining products, components and materials at their highest utility and value, while simultaneously reducing the generation of waste. Designing for a circular economy will require designers to, more than ever, anticipate how artifacts function and change over time and conceptualise the entire lifecycle (including the design, production, use and end-of-life phase) in a coherent and holistic way.
