  1. 11. Infrared spectroscopic studies : from small molecules to large

    Författare :Nadejda Eremina; Andreas Barth; Silvia Maria Doglia; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Infrared spectroscopy; transcription factors; DNA; creatine kinase; CaATPase; water; ligand binding; biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Infrared light (IR) was first discovered by Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel in 1800. However, until 1940’s, molecular IR studies involved only water and small organic molecules, because of the long measurement times. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Formation and Characterization of DNA Concatemers for Single Molecule Mechanism Studies

    Författare :Lu Sun; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; concatemers; hybridization; DNA; gel electrophoresis; self-assembly; constructs; nanotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Well known as genetic information carrier, DNA however, in the past three decade experienced a revolution to become a fashionable fabrication material in nanotechnology as a consequence of the high predictability and accuracy of base-paring recognition. Although DNA can be constructed in many fancy 2D and 3D structures, this thesis work focused on constructing one-dimension linear DNA concatemers in order to study sequence specific DNA-ligand binding at the single-molecule level. 3. 13. Porphyrin Anchored DNA: Advances in DNA Nanotechnology

    Författare :Jakob Woller; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : DNA nanotechnology has focused on the creation of complex structures using DNA as building blocks. DNA is an attractive construction material at the nano scale due to the self-assembly and specific base-pairing of the DNA bases, allowing the placement of functional groups with sub-nm precision. 4. 14. Diastereomeric Effects in DNA Binding – Biological and Biophysical Studies on Ruthenium Complexes

    Författare :Anna Mårtensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neighbor interaction; spectroscopy; diastereomeric; kinetics; antimicrobial activity; ruthenium; calorimetry; intercalation; DNA; enantiomer;

    Sammanfattning : Organic molecules, such as glucose and amino acids, are most often chiral. This means that their mirror-images are different, in the same way a left and a right hand are different from each other. For example, the DNA double helix in its standard form twists like a right-handed screw. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Structural Requirements for Selective DNA Binding - Studies on Mono- and Binuclear Ruthenium Complexes

    Författare :Johanna Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ruthenium; enantioselectivity; sequence selectivity; spectroscopy; threading intercalation; calorimetry; kinetics; DNA; cell studies;

    Sammanfattning : Ever since the discovery of the role of DNA as the template for protein synthesis, efforts have been made to develop DNA targeted drugs. One of the major challenges in the design of DNA binding drugs is to achieve selective binding to specific DNA sequences, which is crucial to avoid side effects. LÄS MER
