  1. 1. Inhibitors of Human and Malaria Parasite Dihydroorotate Dehydrogenase

    Författare :Ingela Fritzson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DHODH; Synthesis; Inhibitors.; Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase;

    Sammanfattning : In the first part of the PhD work, small chemical entities (fragments) found to inhibit human dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH), were chemically optimized. As part of an ample program at Active Biotech to find new drugs against autoimmune diseases, expanded fragments were repeatedly designed, synthesized and evaluated in a human DHODH assay. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Investigating ALK inhibitors alone or in combination as therapeutic options for ALK-positive neuroblastoma

    Författare :Muhammad Wasi Alam; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuroblastoma; Oncology; Anaplastic lymphoma kinase ALK ; Dihydroorotate Dehydrogenase DHODH ;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma (NBL) is the third most common pediatric cancer after leukemia and cranial tumours and accounts for around 15% of death in pediatric malignancy. NBL develops due to the poorly differentiated progenitor cells of the sympathetic nervous system. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase : new insights into an old target

    Författare :Gergana Popova; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Purine and pyrimidine nucleotides are important for both biosynthetic and regulatory pathways in cells. As constituents of the DNA and RNA molecules, the requirements for nucleotides in actively dividing cells are increased. LÄS MER

  4. 4. p53 transcriptional activity as a tool to uncover novel and diverse druggable targets in cancer

    Författare :Marcus James Graeme Watson Ladds; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The transcription factor p53 is one of the most studied tumour suppressors with over 90 000 publications in PubMed referring to the protein. It is also the most frequently mutated gene across all cancer types with around 50% of cancers presenting as mutant p53, and when it is not mutated, it is frequently inactivated to circumvent its tumour suppressor function. 5. 5. Identifying and targeting vulnerabilities in cancers that metastasize to the bone and bone marrow

    Författare :Adele Mirna Alchahin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Evolving technologies enable scientist to ask and seek answers to advanced questions, above and beyond. During the past decade single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) has revolutionized our understanding of biology, in particular within cancer research. LÄS MER
