  1. 1. Molecular mechanisms in lymphoid restriction : securing the B lineage fate

    Författare :Josefine Åhsberg; Mikael Sigvardsson; Jan-Ingvar Jönsson; Charles G. Mullighan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : With the work in this thesis I have aimed to deepen the understanding of the mechanisms behind the development of different blood cell lineages with a specific focus on B cell development.To understand the interplay between extracellular signaling and transcription factor networks in early lymphoid development we investigated the functional collaborations of FLT3 and IL7R. Sammanfattning : This thesis develops new techniques for analyzing cointegrated relationships in panel data. The first chapter is introductory while the remaining six contain the main contributions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Growth factors and vasoactive substances in intrauterine growth restriction and preeclampsia

    Författare :Eva Östlund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cordocentesis; IUGR; preeclampsia; prediction; IGF-I; IGFBP- 1; TGF-beta 1; blood gases; hypoxia; vasoconstriction; endothelin; erythropoietin; fibronectin; placenta.;

    Sammanfattning : Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is, next to prematurity, the second leading cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality. To reduce perinatal morbidity and mortality it is important to identify such fetuses in utero in order to monitor their development, and to determine the most optimal time for delivery. LÄS MER

  4. 4. To be or not to be, unraveling molecular mechanisms for lineage decisions in developing blood cells

    Författare :Robert Månsson; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematologi; extracellular fluids; Haematology; common lymphoid precursor CLP ; early B-cell factor 1 EBF1 ; B-cell; Stemcell; hematopoiesis; extracellulära vätskor; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : All hematopoietic cells originate from hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) residing in the BM. The process of differentiation, through which HSCs generate progenitors and subsequently mature blood cells has been extensively studied but many of the regulatory mechanisms involved remains elusive. 5. 5. Characterization of human myeloid progenitors and their differentiation

    Författare :Louise Edvardsson; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; extracellular fluids; Haematology; Medicin människa och djur ; thrombopoietin receptor; hematopoiesis; transcription factors; growth factor receptors; human myeloid progenitors; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : All hematopoietic cells are derived from the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in a continuous and dynamic process, regulated by a network of transcription factors in different combinations and extrinsic signals from growth factors (GFs) and other factors in the microenvironment. In the initial stages of hematopoiesis HSCs differentiate to progenitor cells with gradually more restricted lineage potential and according to the most accepted model the first restriction in developmental potential results in commitment to either the lymphoid or the myeloid branch, in the latter followed by commitment to the neutrophil/monocyte and erythrocyte/megakaryocyte lineages.
