  1. 11. From Sea to Society - Climate Change, Microbial Community Interactions and Assessing Climate Risk on Society

    Författare :Gurpreet Kaur-Kahlon; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phytoplankton; Bacteria; Climate change; Quorum sensing; Microbial blooms; Vulnerability factors; Arabian Sea; Southwest India;

    Sammanfattning : Unicellular organisms, microalgae and bacteria, less than one millimeter in size make the world go round. Phytoplankton and cyanobacteria, for example, plays an inevitable role contributing 50-85% to the world’s oxygen via photosynthesis. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Water resources in Iceland - Impacts of climate variability and climate change

    Författare :Jona Finndis Jonsdottir; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; marklära; pedology; cartography; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; geomorphology; runoff map; projection of future runoff; Environmental studies; Miljöstudier; Physical geography; hydrological modelling; trends; climate change; climate variability; Iceland; water resources; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik; kartografi; klimatologi; Civil engineering; hydraulic engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Hydropower is the main source of electricity production in Iceland. In 2005, 80.8% of all electricity was generated by hydropower (7015 GWh). Hydropower production is affected both by variations and changes in discharge. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Carbon exchange in boreal ecosystems: upscaling and the impacts of natural disturbances

    Författare :Julia Kelly; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon fluxes; CH4; Climate change; CO2; Drought; Ecosystem respiration; Forest; Peatland; Remote sensing; Temperature; Thermal camera; UAV; Wildfire;

    Sammanfattning : Boreal forests and peatlands are globally significant carbon stores but they are threatened by rising air temperatures and changes in precipitation regimes and the frequency of natural disturbances. Predicting how the boreal biome will respond to climate change depends on being able to accurately model and upscale the greenhouse gas fluxes between these ecosystems and the atmosphere. LÄS MER

  4. 14. On the use of aerosol optical properties and satellite-retrieved trace gases in regional air quality modelling

    Författare :Emma Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Model; Climate; Radiation; Satellite; Air Quality;

    Sammanfattning : The effects of anthropogenic pollutants in the lower atmosphere (troposphere) have been shown, historically and scientifically, to have a deleterious effect on both plant and animal life. Pollutants such as near-surface ozone and soot (black carbon) are two notorious examples with clear anthropogenic sources. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Climate impacts due to albedo change in LCA of agricultural systems

    Författare :Petra Sieber; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Agricultural systems for production of food, energy and materials are a major driver of climate change, due to land use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions along the supply chain. Crop cultivation also affects the climate by changing land surface albedo, i.e. the fraction of solar radiation reflected back from the ground. LÄS MER
