  1. 1. Subject retrieval in web-based library catalogs

    Författare :Koraljka Golub; Jadranka Lasić-Lazić; Department of Information Science Filozofski fakultet u Zagrebu; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; British university libraries; Croatian university libraries; Indexing and retrieval systems; Online library catalogs; Subject access points; Subject retrieval; User interface; User search behavior; WebPACs; Library and Information Science; Biblioteks- och informationsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis has been motivated by past research, problems and realizations that online library catalog users frequently perform subject searches – using keywords, subject headings and descriptors – and these searches have yielded unsatisfactory results. Web-based catalogs or WebPACs (Web-based Online Public Access Catalogs), belonging to the so-called third generation of online catalogs and providing a wide variety of search options, remain largely underutilized despite the continuous advancement of information retrieval systems. 2. 2. Characterization and analysis of the astrometric errors in the global astrometric solution for Gaia

    Författare :Berry Holl; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astrometry; Catalogs; Methods: data analysis; statistical; numerical; analytical; Space vehicles: instruments; Instrumentation: detectors;

    Sammanfattning : The space astrometry mission Gaia, planned for launch in 2013 by the European Space Agency (ESA), will provide the most comprehensive and accurate catalogue of astrometric data for galactic and astrophysical research in the coming decades. It will observe roughly one billion stars, quasars and other point like objects for which the five astrometric parameters (position, parallax and proper motion) will be determined. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The End of Piracy : Rethinking the History of German Print Piracy in the Early Nineteenth Century

In this period, German states passed authorial rights reforms that prompted energetic discussions about the definition of authorship and unauthorized reprinting. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Potential of b-value Variations as Earthquake Precursors for Small and Large Events

    Författare :Paiboon Nuannin; Roland Roberts; Ota Kulhanek; Bjorn Lund; Federico Guendel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :General; Frequency magnitude distribution; b-values; rockbursts; Andaman-Sumatra region; Zinkgruvan mine; December 26; 2004 earthquake; ALLMÄNT;

    Sammanfattning : The potential of variations of b-values in the G-R relation, logN=a-bM as earthquake precursors for small events (rockbursts) in Zinkgruvan mine, Sweden and for tectonic (large) earthquakes in the Andaman-Sumatra region were investigated. The temporal frequency-magnitude distribution, b(t), of rockbursts in Zinkgruvan mine was examined using high quality data recorded during the period November 1996 to April 2004 with magnitude ranges from Mw= -2.
