1. The Potential of b-value Variations as Earthquake Precursors for Small and Large Events
Sammanfattning : The potential of variations of b-values in the G-R relation, logN=a-bM as earthquake precursors for small events (rockbursts) in Zinkgruvan mine, Sweden and for tectonic (large) earthquakes in the Andaman-Sumatra region were investigated. The temporal frequency-magnitude distribution, b(t), of rockbursts in Zinkgruvan mine was examined using high quality data recorded during the period November 1996 to April 2004 with magnitude ranges from Mw= -2. 3. Drill process monitoring in percussive drilling for location of structural features, lithological boundaries and rock properties, and for drill productivity evaluation
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the application of percussive drill monitoring in the mining and underground construction industries. The technique has been used to provide information on different ground properties and conditions and for drill productivity evaluation. LÄS MER
4. Deformation and failure of rock
Sammanfattning : In this doctoral thesis work the relationship between the deformation and the initiation of failure around an underground excavation was studied. In this work data from observed failure and measured deformations was used. This work is based on information obtained from laboratory test, underground field cases and numerical analysis. LÄS MER
5. Multielemental analysis of geological and biological samples using laser ablation ICP-SFMS
Sammanfattning : The analytical performance of laser ablation (LA) for multielemental determination of geological and biological samples has been investigated. In the present study, LA has been used for sample introduction in inductively coupled plasma sector field mass spectrometry (ICP-SFMS). LÄS MER
