11. Quantitative conservation genetics of the rare plants Scabiosa canescens (Dipsacaceae) and Silene diclinis (Caryophyllaceae)
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns quantitative genetic aspects of the conservation biology of two rare plants, Scabiosa canescens and Silene diclinis. Particular attention was given to the effects of genetic drift on the structuring of variation in allozymes and quantitative characters, the association between (current) population size and quantitative genetic variation, the level of inbreeding depression in fitness characters and morphology in a small, isolated population, and the effect of inbreeding and intraspecific hybridization on developmental instability. 12. Geographic Variation, Hybridization and Evolution in the Bladder Campions, Silene vulgaris and S. uniflora (Caryophyllaceae)
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, I investigated the inter- and intraspecific variation in the Silene vulgaris/uniflora species-complex (the bladder campions). I have focused on the effects of past and present hybridization both on a large scale ? over the whole of Europe ? and on a local scale. Silene vulgaris and S. LÄS MER

14. Geographic differentiation and population history in Silene dioica and S. hifacensis: variation in chloroplast DNA and allozymes
Sammanfattning : In this thesis I used allozymes and PCR-RFLP analysis of chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) to investigate geographic differentiation within the widespread Silene dioica (L.) Clairv. (Caryophyllaceae) and the narrowly-distributed S. hifacensis Rouy ex Willk. LÄS MER
15. Fröheteromorfismen hos havsnarv och saltnarv : Spergularia media and Spergularia marina and their heteromorphic seed revisited
Sammanfattning : The flexibility of adaptation in plants to variable environmental conditions is greatly increased by the production of two or more different kinds of seeds. Such heteromorphic seeds, either with or without a winged margin, are characteristic of several species belonging to the genus Spergularia (Caryophyllaceae). LÄS MER
