21. Improved Techniques for Protein Analysis Focusing on Membrane Proteins and Hydrophobic Peptides
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the vital cell functions performed by integral membrane proteins (IMPs) are briefly discussed. Such proteins are under-represented in most protein studies due to the hydrophobic nature of IMPs, which seriously complicate their solubilization, sample handling, preparation, separation and analysis. 22. New Concepts for Dielectrophoretic Separations and Dielectric Measurements of Bioparticles
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents two new concepts for separation of micro particles using dielectrophoresis, demonstrated by calculated examples, as well as a new method for obtaining dielectric data on living cells. The thesis is based on four papers. LÄS MER
23. Enzyme Immunoassay in Combination with Liquid Chromatography for Sensitive and Selective Determination of Drugs in Biosamples
Sammanfattning : Two different sensitive microtitre-plate based enzyme immunoassays were developed and evaluated for determination of the model drug compound, budesonide, in blood plasma. In the first approach, high sensitivity was obtained by using amperometric detection in a flow injection system for determination of the enzyme product p-aminophenol. LÄS MER
24. Affinity biosensors based on a capacitive transducer
Sammanfattning : Capacitive biosensors were developed for several analytes such as hormones, interleukines, viruses and heavy metal ions. The sensing surfaces were prepared by immobilizing the biorecognition element to self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold. SAMs form spontaneously on gold by adsorption of thiols, sulfides or disulfides. LÄS MER
25. Improved techniques for CE-MALDI-MS off-line coupling and MALDI-MS analysis of primarily hydrophobic proteins and peptides
Sammanfattning : Due to the hydrophobic nature of integral membrane proteins (IMP) they give rise to several difficulties concerning handling and analysis, which is not the case for the most water soluble proteins. New analysis methods are needed, where the insolubility problems of the hydrophobic proteins due to aggregation and adhesion are tackled. LÄS MER
