  1. 41. In vitro and in vivo oxidation of diastereomers of lignin models of arylgylcerol b-aryl ether type and heterologous expression of laccase

    Författare :Christina Bohlin; Leif Jönsson; Ming Tien; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Enzymic and non-enzymic oxidation of lignin models of the arylglycerol β-aryl ether type was investigated in experiments aimed at providing a better understanding of the initial phase of biological lignin degradation. Product profiles and diasteromer selectivity were determined to gain knowledge of the properties of the oxidants and pave the way for evaluation of the presence of the oxidants in ligninolytic fungal cultures. 2. 42. Resource aquisition and allocation in lichens

    Författare :Lena Dahlman; David Richardson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; Amino acid; Arginine; carbohydrates; chlorophyll; ergosterol; microclimate; Lichen growth; nitrogen stress; photosynthesis; proteins; respiration; Symbiosis lichen ; nitrogene uptake; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : Lichens are fascinating symbiotic systems, where a fungus and a unicellular alga, most often green (bipartite green algal lichens; 90% of all lichens), or a fi lamentous cyanobacterium (bipartite cyanobacterial lichens; 10% of all lichens) form a new entity (a thallus) appearing as a new and integrated organism: in about 500 lichens the fungus is associated with both a cyanobacterium and an alga (tripartite lichens). In the thallus, the lichen bionts function both as individual organisms, and as a symbiont partner. LÄS MER

  3. 43. Dekkera bruxellensis, a non-conventional ethanol production yeast : studies on physiology, transcriptomics and interactions with industrial microbial isolates

    Författare :Ievgeniia Tiukova; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Dekkera bruxellensis has been shown to outcompete an initial inoculum of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in several ethanol production plants, which nevertheless had a high efficiency in one of the monitored processes. Co-occurrence of D. bruxellensis with lactic acid bacteria (LAB) Lactobacillus vini has been observed. LÄS MER

  4. 44. The deammonification in Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors

    Författare :Jingjing Yang; Elzbieta Plaza; Susanne Lackner; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Deammonification process appears to be a good alternative to treat reject water. In this thesis, control strategies were studied at pilot scale in order to optimise the deammonification process operated in a Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) for reject water treatment. LÄS MER

  5. 45. Jasmonates in root nodule development

    Författare :Anna Maria Zdyb; Katharina Pawlowski; Sofie Goormachtig; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lotus japonicus; jasmonic acid; actinorhizal; rhizobia; Frankia; root nodule; lipoxygenase; allene oxide cyclase; allene oxide synthase; Casuarina; Datisca; Medicago; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Jasmonic acid (JA), its derivatives and its precursor form a group of phytohormones, the jasmonates, representing signal molecules involved in plant stress responses, in the defense against pathogens as well as in development. Elevated levels of JA have been shown to play a role in arbuscular mycorrhiza and in the induction of nitrogen-fixing root nodules. LÄS MER
