  1. 16. Role of pro-inflammatory S100A9 protein in amyloid-neuroinflammatory cascade in Alzheimer’s disease and traumatic brain injury

    Författare :Chao Wang; Ludmilla Morozova-Roche; Jonathan Gilthorpe; Øyvind Halskau; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; S100A9; ; Alzheimer s disease; Traumatic brain injury; Amyloid; Neuroinflammatory; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Background Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a complex disease with a spectrum of symptoms and disabilities. Over the past decade TBI has become the focus of research due to growing epidemiological and clinical evidences that TBI incidences are strong risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease (AD). LÄS MER

  2. 17. Fluorescent Probes and Protein Misfolding: Methods and Applications

    Författare :Irem Nasir; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein misfolding; fluorophores; filter-trap; site-specific fluorophore labeling; amyloid-beta; microscopic rate constants; solvatochromic probes; alpha-synuclein; lipid vesicles; nanoparticles; protein adsorption;

    Sammanfattning : Protein misfolding is a frequently occurring event in living cells and without the quality control, the consequences are disasterous. In this thesis, we studied protein misfolding in vitro by employing a variety of fluorophores, to either detect the highly ordered aggregates of intrinsically disordered proteins/peptides or slight misfolding of a natively folded protein. 3. 18. Identification and investigation of gamma-secretase associated proteins from brain

    Författare :Yasuhiro Teranishi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder and the most common cause of dementia. The pathological hallmarks in the AD brain are extracellular deposition of amyloid plaques, mainly composed of the amyloid β-peptide (Aβ), and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles made of hyperphosphorylated tau.
