1. S100A9 in inflammation
Sammanfattning : S100A9 is a small (13 kD) cytosolic calcium-binding protein. The protein is mainly expressed in neutrophils and monocytes in human but can also be expressed in other cell types under inflammatory conditions. S100A9 is normally co-expressed with S100A8 and forms S100A8/S100A9 heterodimers. LÄS MER
2. S100A9 in inflammatory disease: a potential target for amelioration
Sammanfattning : The quinoline-3-carboxamides (Q compounds) are a family of small molecules with immunomodulatory functions that have shown efficacy in various murine models of inflammatory diseases. One such compound has demonstrated antitumor effects in murine models. Q compounds bind to S100A9, thereby preventing its ligation to TLR4 and RAGE. LÄS MER
3. Role of pro-inflammatory S100A9 protein in amyloid-neuroinflammatory cascade in Alzheimer’s disease and traumatic brain injury
Sammanfattning : Background Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a complex disease with a spectrum of symptoms and disabilities. Over the past decade TBI has become the focus of research due to growing epidemiological and clinical evidences that TBI incidences are strong risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease (AD). LÄS MER
4. Amyloids here, amyloids there…What’s wrong with them?
Sammanfattning : Amyloid formation is inherent property of proteins which under certain circumstances can become a pathologic feature of a group of diseases called amyloidosis. There are about 30 known human amyloidosis and more than 27 identified proteins involved in these pathologies. LÄS MER
