1. Growth and Characterization of Ti-Si-N Thin Films
2. Wood hydrolysates- New concepts in renewable material design
Sammanfattning : Wood hydrolysates (WHs) are biomasses obtained in processes involving hydrothermal treatments of wood. WHs are rich in hemicelluloses and lignin. Instead of complicated extraction processes, such as precipitation, or extensive purification, this work utilizes the crude WHs. LÄS MER
3. Performance of MCrAlX coatings : Oxidation, Hot corrosion and Interdiffusion
Sammanfattning : MCrAlY coatings (M=Ni and/or Co) are widely used for the protection of superalloy components against oxidation and hot corrosion in the hot sections of gas turbines. The drive for coating systems to bestow adequate oxidation and corrosion resistance upon the components becomes urgent as an inevitable result of the necessary improvement in engine combustion efficiency and service lifetime. 4. Hydrophobic and superhydrophobic coatings for corrosion protection of steel
Sammanfattning : Since metals in general, and steels in particular, are vital construction materials in our modern society, the corrosion protection of said materials is of great importance, both to ensure safety and to reduce costs associated to corrosion. Previously, chromium (VI) and other harmful substances were effectively used to provide corrosion protection to steel, but since their use was heavily regulated around year 2000, no coating has yet been developed that, in a fully satisfactory manner, replaces their corrosion protective properties. 5. Model-based Analysis and Design of Atomic Layer Deposition Processes
Sammanfattning : Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a thin-film manufacturing process in which the growth surface is exposed to non-overlapping alternating injections of gas-phase chemical precursor species separated by intermediate purge periods to prevent gas-phase reactions. ALD is characterized by sequential self-terminating heterogeneous reactions between highly reactive gas-phase precursor species and surface-bound species which, when allowed sufficient conditions to reach saturation, results in highly conformal films, on both planar and topographically complex structures.
