31. Cardiovascular and sympatho-adrenal responses to mental stress with special reference to the regulation of human forearm blood flow
Sammanfattning : The cardiovascular and sympatho-adrenal responses to a standardized mental stress test (Stroop's colour word conflict test CWT) were studied in 63 healthy and 11 hypertensive men by intraarterial pressure measurements, forearm blood flow by occlusion plethysmography and noradrenaline (NA) and adrenaline (ADR) determinations in arterial and venous plasma. One study included central hemodynamics by right heart catheterization and NA turnover by an isotope dilution method, permitting studies of NA kinetics in the whole body and in a regional vascular bed (the forearm) in hypertensive patients and age-matched controls. 32. Monitoring of Splanchnic Regional Perfusion : An Experimental Study of New Application and Validation
Sammanfattning : Systemic infection, major surgery, trauma and many other causes can lead to impaired organ function. Compensated shock is not detected by global hemodynamic and oxygen measurements, as they take no account for regional variations. LÄS MER
33. Studies on Retinal Circulation in Experimental Animals, Healthy Human Eyes and Eyes with Diabetic Retinopathy
Sammanfattning : The retina is a highly metabolically active tissue with large demands on the supply of nutrients. Disorders affecting the retina often include some vasculopathy with an impact on retinal circulation. LÄS MER
34. Patellofemoral pain syndrome : clinical and pathophysiological considerations
Sammanfattning : Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is one of the most common musculoskeletal disorders and is reported to affect 15%-33% of the active adult population and 21%-45% of adolescents. Among adolescents, the incidence is reported to be higher for girls. LÄS MER
35. Aspects of bleeding complications and hemostasis at central line insertion and mild induced hypothermia
Sammanfattning : Bleeding complications range from 0.5 to 1.6% in connection with central venous catheter insertions but are more frequent in patients with bone marrow failure and severe thrombocytopenia. Although supportive evidence is scarce, prophylactic platelet transfusion is sometimes performed in these patients before catheter insertion. LÄS MER
